Moss & Associates Replaces Three Separate Systems with CMiC

TORONTO – July 21, 2008 – CMiC, the leader in providing software solutions for the architectural, engineering and construction industry, announced today that Moss & Associates, a pre-eminent Florida based construction management firm, will replace its three separate, nonintegrated systems with CMiC’s single, integrated solution.

“We chose CMiC because it’s a cradle to grave integrated solution that includes solutions for our business development, accounting and project management needs,” said Robert Bruscino, Business Application Manager. “CMiC is Web-enabled and built on a solid technology base, which also played a factor in our decision.”

Formed in 2004, Moss has grown from $20M to $650M and found that the company’s accounting solution requirements changed. With 440 employees and an average of 40 to 50 projects ongoing per month, Moss found that their current system created inefficiencies because of the lack of integration. Sharing data between departments was difficult, and information became untimely. As well, Moss lacked a CRM solution to support business development. CMiC’s CRM solution recently placed first in an industry wide survey for General Contractor’s over $250M in revenue.

Moss looked at other solutions on the market, including generic ERP solutions, but CMiC was ultimately chosen after an extensive search process that involved a solution survey that evaluated what the top 100 ENR firms were using and detailed demonstrations from software providers. “CMiC prevailed due to a match in system and cultural requirements, as well as a match in regards to cost and CMiC’s capabilities,” said Bruscino.

“CMiC’s existing customers all came to believe, “ said Jeff Weiss, vice president of Sales and Business Development at CMiC, “that it was better to take advantage of the multi-million dollar research and development investment that CMiC has made over the last 35 years (and continues to invest) in developing an ERP solution with AEC industry specific functionality, rather than spend millions of dollars of their own money, to implement and customize a generic ERP solution to meet their AEC specific requirements or proceed with an industry specific but non-scalable solution.”

With a goal to have a dominant presence in the main market of South Florida and to have a healthy presence in the state of Florida, Moss expects to experience greatly improved process efficiencies with CMiC. “In order to dominate the market, one needs to gain maximum efficiency from their scarce resources,” said Scott Moss, vice president of Moss & Associates. “In our case, the scarce resource is our talented people. A person who knows how to build should not be shuffling through paper nor doing something inefficient. They need to be building for our owners.” Moss also expects to have significant improvements to the visibility of data and accountability.

“With all mission critical information stored in one database, Moss will enhance productivity and improve efficiency as the company continues to grow,” said Bassem Hamdy, vice president of Solutions at CMiC.

“CMiC is a solution that we can grow with and that will enable us to be more efficient and sustain growth with less overheard,” said Robert Bruscino of Moss & Associates, “all with real time information visible across all functions to drive timely and effective decision making.”

“CMiC is very pleased that Moss chose the integrated approach that CMiC provides,” said Gord Rawlins, President of CMiC. “CMiC looks forward to developing our new partnership with one of the nation’s fastest-growing companies.”
