Armada Hoffler Implements Prolog Manager on $400 million Multi-Year Project

Meridian Project Systems’ Prolog Manager helps maintain consistency in project management and cost control

FOLSOM, Calif. (January 28, 2003) - Meridian Project Systems (MPS), a leading provider of project management software and ASP solutions, announced today that Armada Hoffler Holding Company, Top 400 ENR Contractor and one of the largest full-service commercial real estate and construction organizations in the Eastern United States, is using Prolog Manager to complete its $400 million Town Center of Virginia Beach project. Prolog Manager allows project teams to manage documents and data, creating one central database for all project information.

The Armada Hoffler project team uses Prolog’s document control features to centralize budget and cost data, track requests for information, and manage potential change events and applications for payment and invoicing. The four-year project uses Prolog Manager to coordinate 55 companies and public stakeholders in building a 17 block, mixed-use development providing retail, office, hotel, residential, and recreational spaces.

“Engineering Services, Inc. has worked with Armada Hoffler Construction Company and its sister companies for ten years, on many projects, and in various roles,” says W.P. Burkhimer, Jr., P.E. Vice President Engineering Services, Inc. “Perhaps most impressive to me is Armada Hoffler's track record for handling difficult time and budgetary constraintsthey are remarkably persistent and diligent in managing projects all over the United States.”

Armada Hoffler uses Prolog Manager to maintain its reputation for project control and efficiency. “Prolog has and will continue to allow the team to be consistent with documents and procedures from one phase to another,” says Debbie Rakes, Armada Hoffler Senior Project Assistant. “It has also allowed Armada Hoffler Construction the flexibility to exchange team members with little to no transition period. Overall, Prolog is very user friendly and has enabled Armada Hoffler Construction to bring new employees up to speed with procedures and forms in record time. Thus, allowing employees to work smarter rather than harder.”

The open architecture of Prolog Manager enabled Armada Hoffler to configure Prolog Manager to meet specific business requirements. The Armada Hoffler team built custom applications to access data within the Prolog database. The team uses this cost data in a custom report to calculate contract and projected costs, subcontract status reports, and exception reporting. The team views the financial status of the project at any time to maintain maximum profitability.
