DFI 30th Annual Conference on Deep Foundations
September 22 - November 24, 2005
Chicago, IL USA
Every Fall for the past thirty years, the Engineers, the Contractors, the Academics, the Suppliers and Manufacturers from the deep foundations construction industry have gathered to learn from each other and discuss the state of the practice and the state of the art within our field.
The DFI Member's Conference gives all industry members an opportunity to discuss, on equal footing, the technical concerns specific to the design and construction of deep foundations. Inclusive of all foundation elements and systems, the program and scope of the Conference is enriched by the presence of all disciplines in the industry, from around the world.
Four Sessions over 3 days comprise a program featuring the experiences of professionals at work in today's challenging industry environment. Presenters will be selected from among abstracts submitted by the industry worldwide by an interdisciplinary committee of foundation industry leaders.
Beyond the program, The DFI presents every opportunity for attendees to interact and exchange ideas with each other. We take pride that our breaks, Luncheons, Welcome Reception, and Awards Banquet reflect the appreciation we have for our Members. In 2005 we are pleased to bring the conference to Chicago.

The challenges facing the landscape architectural profession are breath taking in their possibilities. They embrace issues of sustainability that concern our cities and countryside, at this conference the speakers will stress the need to focus on the management of the landscape from a multidisciplinary perspective, respecting water and the land.
The speakers also will remained us of the need to empower ourselves as individuals and as a profession in the complex way of understanding and interpreting the framework into which the landscape is conceived. This framework is a complex way of physical, cultural, political, and environmental, social and economic factors. 3rd International Conference on Forensic Engineering
November 10 - 12, 2005
LONDON, United Kingdom
The Institution of Civil Engineers is organising the third in a series of two-day conferences in recognition of the increasing profile of Forensic Engineering, ie. the technical investigation of performance failures some of which may lead to either civil or criminal legal activity. Such failures need not be catastrophic, however, and could range through to less noticeable, but potentially serious, serviceability failures. The field of Forensic Engineering thus encompasses any engineering discipline that has, for example, the potential to be used in this way. This international conference will focus on diagnosing failures of constructed environments, and the lessons learned from them, to help solve or reduce potential problems. The conference will look at the implications for professionals with responsibilities for designing, assessing and maintaining such structures and buildings of any age, size or type. It will illustrate that, through investigation, assessment, example and dissemination, Forensic Engineering can benefit the community by reducing property damage, serious injury, or loss of lives.

6th International Trade Fair Lehmbau ' 05
November 18 - 19, 2005
Friedenstr. 1 , Berlin , 10249 Germany
The business field of earth building products is increasing in the last years and new technological developments can be presented. The reason for this increase is the interest in ecologically friendly construction. Another reason is the growing dissatisfaction with the results of conventional constructing methods. We can observe a renaissance of earth building in Germany since the end of the nineties. The increasing interest in healthy working and living rooms, rural methods of rehabilitation and the increase of allergies are only a few reasons for this development. At the same time we can remark an increase of new earth building products and technical developments in the production of this sustainable building material. As one consequence there are now a lot of new products available on the market. Since people “re-recognised” that it is possible to use earth as a building material they are more and more interested. We know constructors who built houses conventionally with cement, but after they read an article in a magazine or watched a report on TV about earth construction, they now are interested in the new earth building products. The market of new earth building products is increasing and various pre-fabricated products are now available in a lot of different sizes. Also the first steps of certification of earth plasters with the new European label for sustainable building products “natureplus” are done.
Also the combination of a earth and wall-heating-system is increasing, because of the positive and healthy effects of earthen products.
On the trade fair you have the chance to see the innovation of earth building products.
Second European Symposium on Research in Architecture, Urban and Landscape Design: Space on a Large Scale
November 23 - 25, 2005
The second meeting of European Architecture Researchers will be held from 23rd to 25th November 2005. Launched by the French Ministry for Culture and Communication, Architecture and Heritage Department, it is organised by the Lille National School of Architecture and Landscape with the partnership of the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE).
This second session of European days of architectural, urban and landscape design research must examine the issue of “space on a large scale” especially where the following are to be found in the disciplinary approaches taken, the professional practices applied and the resulting scientific productions:
diversities linked to the nature of its structures and research subjects requiring an interdisciplinary dynamic,
singularities formed by contact with a dual culture of spatial analysis and spatial transformation.
