Sumit Singhal
Sumit Singhal loves modern architecture. He comes from a family of builders who have built more than 20 projects in the last ten years near Delhi in India. He has recently started writing about the architectural projects that catch his imagination.  Image Courtesy Brian Rose The first glimpse of the undulating green roof of the h2 Hotel signals your arrival in downtown Healdsburg. The small, stylish inn—little sister to the grand Hotel Healdsburg down the road—welcomes visitors with its straightforward, vivacious feel. A broad glass entryway draws guests into the lobby lounge, a dynamic commons that invites mixing and lingering, with a reception desk that doubles as an intimate modern wine bar. Spoonbar!, the hotel’s modern Mediterranean restaurant, shares the space.  Front View Registered for LEED certification, h2 Hotel infuses all aspects of its design, operations, and attitude with eco-consciousness—including such energy-saving measures as a green roof and solar panels.  Swimming Pool Reclaiming the site of a gas station, the inn is a key part of the restoration of Foss Creek, which flows through the length of the town. The inn embraces the creek, preserving the giant, spreading Live Oak tree and restoring the surrounding banks.  Swimming Pool The hotel rejects fussiness and caters to active users with a scaled-down pragmatic luxury. Custom bike racks hold PUBLIC bicycles on hand for guests to take a spin around town. In contrast to the energetic common spaces, the simple and functional rooms offer a restful retreat from the activity of busy north Sonoma County days.
