Balestra Berlin Launched in 2006 the Balestra Berlin team is an ever evolving interdisciplinary group of Creatives. Hold together by a core team in their offce in Berlin they interlink disciplines like architecture, photography, event, flm, sound-, graphic-, fashion- and light design. Our experience tells us that by transforming the use of everyday items and challenging their purpose we can create bespoke spaces that create emotional environments. With our expertise we change the dynamics of the chosen environment and therefore challenge the perceptions of the audience.  Images Courtesy Frank Schoepgens Our projects range from developing interactive event concepts, managing clubs, designing contemporary exhibition forms to the organization of innovative fashion shows, although our hearts beat mainly for creating Light Room Installations.  Images Courtesy Manu Martinez kubik concept_I The light room installation was created as the club concept called ‘kubik’ to inspirit unused urban space with an arrangement of water tanks, light shows and electronic beats. Stacked up tank-walls illuminated in different colours are composed to a piece of stunning architecture, which interacts with the beats of minimal electronic music.  Images Courtesy Robin Thomas This unique object of design generates a vibrant sensation for the audience and has been celebrated by the international party community throughout Europe. Launched for the frst time in Berlin in 2006 this synaesthetic concept allows a wide range of cultural events. Since then the ‘kubik’ idea has travelled the globe and has been celebrated in over 22 cities for audiences from 200 – 8000. The architectural challenges for us are limitless as we can create rooms in different sizes, heights and formations.  Images Courtesy Brian Reyes We can tower the tanks to design static or moveable walls, they can hang to form ceilings and even be used on water to offer foating rooms. Each project is a special challenge for us for which we always develop new and unique ‘kubik’ architectures.  Images Courtesy Brian Reyes We view each tank as a single pixel. The kubik light program enables us to control the light individually in each element to form special patterns, structures, colours and light intensities. Our lighting experts are constantly pushing forward the boundaries and uses of light techniques. We have developed sensor based light programs that pick up on movement, colour and sound navigating the mood of the audience with the installation. kubik clubs Balestra Berlin has been developing, realizing and promoting four own kubik clubs in Berlin, Lisboa, Barcelona and Hamburg:  Images Courtesy GLOW lightfestival kubik Berlin In the summer of 2006 the kubik team revitalized a fallow land next to a factory ruin located in Berlin Mitte. Supported by highly acclaimed DJs the kubik became a popular open air feature in the bustling underground party scene and succeeded in flling an urban gap in the twink of an eye. www.kubikberlin.de  Images Courtesy Marc Koetse kubik Lisboa In 2007 the kubik experience over glowed Lisbon’s Tejo River, up valuating the former harbour district. New elements like grand windows and staircase-shapes allowed dynamic interaction between interior an exterior space thus creating an alternative and relaxed ambience. www.kubiklisboa.com  Images Courtesy Robin Thomas kubik Barcelona The kubik project was spreading its lustrous shine across the urban scenery of Barcelonas Parc del Forum offering a spectacular view on the ocean. 279 tanks created a unique design object of walls and columns in two different colours. The smaller kubik, located under a huge solar roof, held a bar illuminated in magenta. Down at the dock, kubik´s club venue gleamed in a dazzling green. www.kubikbarcelona.com  Images Courtesy Sara Montaneli kubik Hamburg In 2009 kubik returned to Germany for three month – this time to Hamburg. Next to the river Elbe has been found an unused fabric hall, the ensemble ‘Brandshof’.
