Kindergarten in Raïmat in Lleida (Segrià), Spain by B MÉS R 29 ARQUITECTES SLP
April 30th, 2011 by Sumit Singhal
The new kindergarden is articulated as a square element of ground floor constituted of three structural walls supporting the roof of the building that faithfully reproduces the shape of the plant. The walls are placed parallel to the alignment of the main traces of the urbanization, extends beyond the perimeter of ocupation of the building, in the perpendicular direction to generate different movements to articulatie the different spaces of the program and marking the route from the entrance to the Inside, in opposition to the visuals and marking the areas inside and outside the building.
The building has extended its influence area beyond its ceiling through a spatial interrelationship with an environment, for specify and making the small building take over an empty space without occupying it.
The access space, despite being marked by the specific position of the walls was consolidated and reinforced by a marquee soft of steel that overlays as blanket over the building and makes it recognizable from far distances and makes it became a specific and particular Building location over this flat space without nearby targets.
At first, the building was planned as a simple set of elements made of concrete, but sensing that this way the building would became visual blurring in the environment with soft tonalities, and would be lost in an area that later will be occupied by other small buildings. Was decided definitely to highlight these walls endowing them life and personality through a combination of brightly colored stripes, together with two shades of gray, making recognizable building in this environment without references and giving it a different character for the future integration in the built environment.
