The warehouse 17c has been the first intervention made in the Matadero complex and, as such, could be considered as a pilot trial. The project was born with two well-defined clients. On the one hand, the Council itself by means of its Arts City Council and on the other hand, by means of Intermediae and its programmatic constraints as the warehouse’s future tenant.

The Hotel and Sport School Zenden is located within three monumental town houses near the river Maas in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The hotel’s history begins in the late sixties, and originally contained only a pool for swimming lessons. Over the years other functions such as hotel rooms and a Judo school were implemented into the program. Upon the facilities reaching spatial limits, a renovation and reorganisation of the program was needed.

3 stories timber structure house built in a dense residential area in Setagaya, Tokyo. The 7x12m plot is surrounded by narrow street and alley, so it was required to set back the building façade. The ground floor volume is set back for 1.5m and the upper level pitched roof volume is set back further for 2m. Even this house has a descent volume, this arrangement makes it fit to the scale of the surrounding.

The initial task from the client was to build a new shopping mall on the plot of the existing one. Furthermore the new project proposed the use of the roof as an additional volume – new ski hotel apartments of different sizes. The wooden mass is located centrally in the village of Bohinjska Bistrica in the alpine area of Lake Bohinj. The village has beautiful views towards the mountains but unfortunately these were architecturally damaged in the 60s when a textile factory and set of housing blocks were built around them.

How did Bike sauna come to existence?
The idea of creating a Bike sauna for city bikers came out spontaneously last year at a Christmas party of bike servicing outfit Bajkazyl at Rašínovo nábřeží. For that occasion we brought our older concept – sauna on wheels that can be dragged behind a car. That evening our sauna went through serious testing by more than 40 people. Everyone liked the concept very much, it was perhaps its greatest success yet. But we couldn’t ignore many calls for sauna that could be dragged behind a bicycle.

Fort York Heritage
Fort York, considered the birthplace of Toronto, is a National Historic Site. It represents the single most important cultural heritage link to British military and social history remaining in the City of Toronto. The Fort’s layered historical themes and associations with a rich archaeological past re-enforces the need for a sensitivity in design to both the existing above-ground cultural heritage resources and the below-ground archaeological resources. The larger challenge of this project is not only to present cultural heritage and preserve archaeological resources but also to contribute in making the social, military and intangible histories of this site more present and palpable.

The Shaw house is located on a narrow waterfront property on the south shore of English Bay. Views from the site stretch across the bay to encompass the skyline of downtown Vancouver and, beyond, the mountains on the north shore of the bay. The house is organized with living spaces at grade, a music room below, and a single bedroom, study, and lap pool above. The pool, with terraces at each end, runs along the entire west side of the house.
