Designed by HWKN (Hollwich Kushner) ”UNIQLO CUBES,” have arrived in New York City, opening today, July 28th at the Highline Rink at 30th St. and 10th Ave. The two cubes celebrate UNIQLO’s innovative yet classic apparel in jewel-like architectural packages.
This is a project with very strong emotional implications. We had to understand the mood of the user, who at such this moment would not care very much for an aesthetical analisis of any place, but at the same time we wanted to create a space that can create a spritual mood, for this we refered to ancient buidings that were designed for this purpose, as the Egiptian “Mastabas” or some Mayan buildings in Palenque.

The circular building housing the casualty and isolation departments at Skåne University Hospital (SUS) in Malmö, Sweden – designed to offer the best possible prevention against the spread of infection – is set to become the hospital’s striking new landmark.
The building stands on a small street in a residential neighborhood in Mexico City. Although it is located in a residential area, the street is very close to a busy commercial thoroughfare. This allows the building to be immersed in the peace and quiet of its street, and at the same time confront the urban alienation that pervades the commercial zone.
Nendo’s office is located near the Meguro River in Tokyo, on the fifth floor of an old office building. We wanted the usual spaces and functions -meeting space, management, workspace and storage- to be separate, but also to maintain a sense of connection between them.
The club JOSEFINE / ROXY has been a reference in the city since 2007. The original design from four years ago was also designed by the Architect Fred Mafra. “Reforming your own project brings you a special freedom that comes from already mastering the space you are working with as well as from the confidence of the owner in your work.” This is the sixth night club designed by the architect, graduated 12 years ago.
