In 2009 Head of Roads Department of Georgia commissioned J. MAYER H. to design a system of Rest Stops for the new highway, which will run through Georgia and connect the Republic of Azerbaijan with the Republic of Turkey. Two Rest Stops are currently under construction and are scheduled for completion by the time the first section of the highway will be in operation in November 2011.

This project for a family coastal residence is located on a stunning isolated site in eastern Victoria on former farmland. The design is an investigation of how an idealised conception of “house” is transformed by its context and use. The site has extraordinary qualities: harsh prevailing winds of the Roaring Forties; sloping site; and sublime panoramic views from Cape Liptrap to Wilson’s Promontory. The residence required maximum flexibility as a beach home that could accommodate varying sleeping needs – anything from a single guest to burgeoning family summer holidays.

The minimumhouse at Mellensee, situated to the south of Berlin, is a prototype for a serial holiday and residentialhouse. Under the label minimumhouse it is offered including all furniture and fittings. The concept was developed by the ideal of a house with maximum outdoor impressions and also by making full use of the solar yields for the building.

HAO / Holm Architecture Office along with five other New York design offices have been invited to participate in the re-design of the Coleman Oval Skate Park and the master planning of the Coleman Oval Park. The competition is sponsored by Architecture for Humanity, which received a TKTK grant from for the redesign of the park.

A-lab is working on a design proposal for an eco-cube for the UNION group. The cube will be a pilot project for A-lab’s eco-BIM technology.

The Økern area faces significant changes in the near future and is being developed as a new destination in Oslo. The new Økern center brings shopping, culture and housing to the area. Lørenveien 68 will function as a broker between the new Økern center and Larne’s established residential area.

Brooks Avenue House in Venice, California by bricault design

The clients for this project needed more space to accommodate the needs of a growing family, but they were reluctant to leave their location in Venice – one of the few walkable neighborhoods in Los Angeles.  The solution was to maintain and remodel their existing 2000 square foot home, while creating a 1700 square foot addition and courtyard on the rear lane side.

Cross fertilization of ideas and talent

Science Park Amsterdam, the international knowledge centre in the Watergraafsmeer neighbourhood is the new home for the Liberal Arts and Sciences program at the Amsterdam University College. Science Park is located in the eastern part of the city, close Amsterdam’s historic seventeenth-century city centre. In 2012, 900 international students will enter the new school. Surrounded by other science buildings, the Science Park provides an interesting environment for the AUC with optimal opportunities for cross fertilization of ideas and talent. The park has an urban character in which buildings, landscape and public space are strongly intertwined. Science Park encompasses a program of 500.000 m² in Total including office buildings, laboratories and educational facilities, hotel, conference facilities, sports and cultural programs, restaurants and housing.

Typical Tokyo urban condition of closely built surrounding.  The 4 storey house resolves privacy and light by the idea of 2 cascading courtyards, which spills gradual light into the innermost volume of the house. Due to the differing light intensity from the 2 courtyards, each space also differs in character and function.
