Article source: Coll-Barreu Arquitectos

The E8 building is the result of a design competition called with the intention of highlight an ambitious expansion of Alava Technology Park, an institutional commitment to research whose validity and future should be represented by the building. The Park will rent or sell the full building by plants or by modules. The design should incorporate this uncertainty in use, which was taken as a positive requirement. The architecture must allow modify programs and adapt to uses, be transformable, such as the old buildings. Paradoxically, the building then gains in stability, in possibilities: we can say that the building wins time.

Wein & Wahrheit in Sulzbach, Germany by Ippolito Fleitz Group GmbH

Friday, June 8th, 2012

Article source: Ippolito Fleitz Group GmbH

The Weinkellerei Höchst has opened a second wine shop in the new extension of the Main-Taunus Centre. The new store boasts a floor space of 80 m². The task was to present its range of over 600 different wines and spirits, delicatessen items and gifts within this compact space. The wide range of wines and the retailer’s extensive wine knowledge are highlighted here in a sensual setting intended to animate passers-by to purchase. Therefore the first impression from the outside is one of undiluted wine expertise. Resembling a library of learned tomes, wine bottles fill the store from floor to ceiling along all three interior walls. A mirrored ceiling band running around the edges of the space further multiplies this effect in the vertical. Within the mirrored ceiling a canopy of glass vessels is suspended, forming a strong key visual. The light breaks in them like candlelight reflected through a glass, giving this otherwise modern setting the atmosphere of a wine cellar and conjuring up associations of epicurean indulgence.

Buchter Retreat in Orcas Island, Washington by David Coleman Architecture

Friday, June 8th, 2012

Article source: David Coleman Architecture

Program: A 2000 square foot vacation retreat located on a 15 acre wooded site littered with  glacial ledge in Washington’s San Juan islands to accommodate two sisters and their spouses.
Design: Our clients had long envisioned developing a cluster of buildings on the site, carefully  sited to preserve the rugged, natural landscape. In keeping with this vision, we endeavored to  create a modern rendition of the “summer camp,” complete with sleeping pavilions, a great room  and covered porches, all inspired by the platform tents and national park lodges of the late 19th  century.

Swimming Pool Feng Shui Solarium in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France by Mikou Design Studio

Article source: Mikou Design Studio

Piscine du Fort was conceived as a praxis of lucidity,  transparency and architectonic fluidity, where natural light  defines the spatial experience.  Programmatic elements are organised as sweeping curvilinear  forms immersed within the spatial continuum of the project. The  composition of elements simultaneously creates a porosity,  allowing light to flood the interior, whilst delineatingseperate  functions within the structure with strong individual identities.

Porosis Pavilion in Belgrade, Serbia by Studio Méta-

Friday, June 8th, 2012

Article source: Studio Méta-

Porosis Pavilion is a temporary mobile pavilion located in Belgrade, Serbia. The space of pavilion is inspired by the porous condition of bone. Bone consists of cellular structure in voronoi system which is rigid and stable. The pavilion allows experiencing the porosity through the combination between the space and the structure.  The density of voronoi structure defines space for the temporary exhibition, as it is denser in the enclosed back space of the pavilion and opens up towards the front with less dense structure. The structure itself defines the facade aesthetic of the pavilion.
