Article source: C. F. Møller Architects

A whole new kind of hospital – that is how the jury described the winning proposal by C. F. Møller Architects for a new 10,000 m2 ward building for Haraldsplass Hospital in Bergen, Norway. Gone are the traditional hospital corridors, to be replaced by open common areas and efficient logistics.

Haraldsplass Hospital was built in 1986 and has approximately 184 beds. The new building will cover 10,000 m2 and give the hospital a further 108 beds on three storeys. There will also be new underground parking facilities for approximately 400 cars.

School Barvaux-Condroz in Belgium by LR Architectes

Friday, June 1st, 2012

Article source: LR Architectes

The existing school is located along the main road in the heart of a Belgian village called Barvaux-Condroz, The school is in direct dialogue with the church. It has a widely open view at the back and an open area on the east side of the plot.

The school expansion and renovation project includes the following:
– On the existing building, the south orientation of the rear façade opens on the playground and the landscape, whereas the north façade is relatively closed.
– The position of the entrance to the school is a fundamental question. The present location of the pedestrian crossing and the analysis of safe access to the car park for parents led us to exploit the free zone on the east gable.

Apartment building complex in Germany by Ambrozoom3D

Friday, June 1st, 2012

Article source: Ambrozoom3D

The project was realized in summer 2011 for a media agency in Germany. As the architecture of the buildings, the brochure layout was clean, simple, minimalist but very elegant, contained only white, grey and a gold print colors, so the visualizations had to integrate perfectly into the design, maintaining the realistic look. Ambrozoom3D realized 8 perspectives (2 for each building, one bird eye and one general south view), and 24 floor plans for each apartment. The floor plans also had to be integrated into the brochure, therefor keeping a minimalist look, with few textures and each of them had to contain some decoration in gold.

Hillary CLinton Presidential Library by Sean Surla

Friday, June 1st, 2012

Article source: Sean Surla

The library was inspired by the hanging gardens of Babylon; one of the cradles of civilization and agriculture. The library looks to the future by integrating the natural systems of water, vegetation and energy into its architecture. It embodies and symbolizes the self-sufficiency of all people and cultures, as well as the inter connectedness of all humanity, creatures and nature. It embodies the preservation of the world’s natural resources and methods of uniting peoples, by promoting self-sufficiency through permaculture & top soil renewal-replacing industrial annual crop agriculture, as well as energy and water resource management. The library exemplifies unity through knowledge and the many possible ways to keep the dialogue open and keep the planets remaining resources and cultures thriving.
