Disaster Prevention and Education Center in Istanbul by Dimcho Nedev & Binyo Yovchev

BASIC PRINCIPLES OF MORPHOLOGY

Natural disasters are caused by the basic elements/powers – fire, air, earth, water. Humans can be added to the list because often man through his actions can have a negative effect on nature. As a result these changing elements become five in total. The regular pentagon symbolizes the harmony between man and the elements. Therefore we chose it as a starting point for our form shaping.

Over the past years, Thomas Plöckinger-Schatzl and his team have expanded their services. Besides classical physiotherapy, they now also offer medical exercise therapy, massage, and the sale of training and therapy utensils. The integration of all these services made building a new practice essential. The space solution developed by Schneider & Lengauer integrates these requirements and therefore provides a simple, smooth and barrier-free organization of all work areas.

House L in Scharten, Upper Austria by Peter Schneider, Erich Lengauer

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

Article source: Schneider & Lengauer Architekten

It all started with an invited competition, which is highly unconventional for a single-family home. Schneider & Lengauer won the tender and had the opportunity to deal with the client’s precise requirements in detail. Three key requirements characterize the result. First, it was necessary to integrate the qualities of the site into a prestigious residential and working environment. Second, the client placed great importance on energy-efficient design. And thirdly, the home should reflect the family’s fondness for the color white.

Haus Ginkgo in Oberwil, Switzerland by on3 architekten

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

Article source: on3 architekten

The house is located in the center of Oberwil, in the north of Switzerland. The neighborhood is designed by older one family houses and small stores. Due to ist geometry, the house offers an unconventional floor plan with comfort, flexibility and space to move. As the rooms are linked and correspondent to each other, they are ideal for family life with space for individual creativity.
The open kitchen and the living room, which are on the same level as the terrace in the garden, form one area. A large glass facade is the only separation between the interior and the external space. The two upper floors offer private rooms, separated by sliding doors. The galleria in the attic gives a wonderful view over the roofs of Oberwil and completes the concept of the flexible and open floor plans. The center of the house is a stair made of exposed concrete. It connects the house in the vertical. The robust and massive concrete sets a contrast to the fine, light white oak parquet floor.

A special feature of the house is the frame-less, partly room-high glazing.Thematically, they are used in every room and open the house to the external space. Thus, the rooms receive a generous, light and friendly atmosphere.

Roller Coaster 72 Apartment Complex In The Northeast Of The Island Of Nantes by Peripheriques Architectes in association with BERRANGER & VINCENT Architectes

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

Article source: Peripheriques Architectes

This building is located in the northeast of the island of Nantes at the junction of new streets and Ligérienne Alain Colas. The building is organized around a U-shaped central garden wide open to the South. The choice of this U-shape is the desire to penetrate the sun in the middle of the island and thus provide good guidance to housing.
