Cobogó House in São Paulo, Brazil by Studio mk27

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

Article source: Studio mk27

The light of the abundant tropical Sun falls on the white volume of the top floor of the house, penetrating the holes of the hollowed elements and covering the floor of the interior space. Thus, the design of spatialized lace is formed from the shadows and solar rays. The effect is multiplied throughout the ambient, making a construction from the light itself. Throughout the days, throughout the months, the hollowed-out elements take on different forms with the incidence of the sun; at night, this effect once again is transformed; in a continuous process of metamorphosis, its form changes from the light.

Apartment Building in Cessange, Luxembourg by Metaform atelier d’architecture

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

Article source: Metaform atelier d’architecture

There are numerous problems involved in integrating art into architecture in the developmental stages when the architecture is limited by several constraints, including profitability and investments. The juxtaposition of the spaces and the articulation of different surface areas must meet the very precise requirements of both the building authorities and of the client, and the situation is rendered even more challenging when the building site is narrow.

Medical care center for disabled people in Limay, France by Atelier Zündel Cristea

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

Article source: Atelier Zündel Cristea

Our project engages in an equilibrium (and disequilibrium) between the full and the empty, in other words between interior and exterior spaces, approaching both as materials.

There are six internal courtyards situated within the four unit complex: two large communal gardens of 350m², with four others interior to each unit, which light the way of the paths toward the rooms. The large open garden, accessible to all, is located in the eastern part of the grounds.

Inside Fashion Store in Vienna, Austria by Söhne & Partner Architects

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

Article source: Söhne & Partner Architects

A 100m² shop presents fashion in a discreet but appealing way.

It was the designer’s intention to create a restrained and straight room in order to make it an eye-catcher for the Neubaugasse in Vienna. Thus, people who are passing by should be guided into the store. The colour turquoise directs the customers through the shop while the interior is mainly white and sober in order to present the fashion at the best. Big mirror surfaces make the room seemingly bigger.

Recreational Center in Yaroslavl, Russia by DK architects

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

Article source: DK architects

The building is located on a boulevard in the historical center of Yaroslavl. Because of the absence of close architectural surrounding the building has been conceived as an integrated part of a pedestrian passage that could be transformed into an urban landscape. The whole building has been designed as an element of recreational urban area. It does not interrupt the movement alongside the boulevard but develops its scenario creating new directions: throughout itself, up and down and across it connecting existing pedestrian ways.

Article source: APOLLO Architects & Associates

This project was located in a dense residential area of suburban Tokyo populated by a mix of new and older buildings. As our client wanted a space with a feeling of openness, our main concern was how to ensure both privacy and a sense of harmony with the surroundings.

Skid Row Housing Trust Management Offices in Los Angeles, California by Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects LOHA

Saturday, July 7th, 2012

Article source: Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects

As part of an on-going collaboration with Skid Row Housing Trust (SRHT), a non-profit organization that provides permanent supportive housing for the homeless population of Los Angeles, LOHA was asked to design a 4,100 sf Tenant Improvement to house their management offices including training and event headquarters. Taking advantage of the heaviness of the existing ‘forest of columns’ present in the space, LOHA deployed a series of trees that concealed the existing structure while providing the framework for a custom lighting installation. The space serves as an urban oasis within the otherwise chaotic nature of its surroundings within the Skid Row district of Los Angeles both for the patrons served and the managing staff.

Ipês House in são paulo ,sp.brazil by studio mk27

Saturday, July 7th, 2012

Article source: studio mk27

Ten years ago, when StudioMK27 tried to do a project using exposed concrete, many builders said that this was practically impossible. Yeah, Right – Brazil that has a vast modern tradition in the use of raw concrete? During a determinate period, in the 90´s, the use of the material declined sharply, restricted to the few architects that used it experimentally e sporadically, without fixing a constructive know-how.
