Casa Pocafarina in Girona, Spain by Hidalgo Hartmann

Friday, February 17th, 2012

Article source: Hidalgo Hartmann

The house is situated on a corner plot with some good views over the distant landscape. In order to enjoy these views and avoid the neighboring buildings, the ideal configuration for the house was to create a compact form of cross which is placed at the center of gravity of the plot. The four wings are oriented in a way that ensures the selected views from inside the house.

Apartment in Nicosia, Cyprus by Hemonides Applied Arts

Friday, February 17th, 2012

Article source: Hemonides Applied Arts

Located at the hard of the city but in a quiet and rather isolated area this ground floor apartment is a part of a big residential block.

The design concepts were simple: to make the most of the good distribution of the apartment but to lend it a contemporary style and to make it environmentally friendly. Equally it was important to create a space in which art would take centre stage, that the lighting should exploit the design qualities and generate agreeable atmospheres and a furnishing specification in line with the quality and style of the rest of the house.

The main entrance, which was designed by LOVE, is situated on the main road – the busiest street in this part of the city. SHELL in Nagano, Japan by ARTechnic architects (designed using ArchiCAD)

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

Article source: ARTechnic architects

A large shell shaped structure finds itself in the middle of the woods.  It is hard to determine what exactly the structure is, and unlike the surrounding caves and rocks, it clearly is not a part of nature – nor is it a ruin.  A frame, a shape, made at a completely different place for a completely different purpose.  Within this shell shaped structure will one find floors constructed, wall separating spaces, and rooms furnished. The scenery conjures a SF film-like image, in which locals inhabit over an abandoned spacecraft.  With time, trees start to grow encircling the spacecraft, harmonizing it into the landscape.

Innovation Tower in Hong Kong, China by Zaha Hadid Architects

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

Article source: Zaha Hadid Architects
More projects by Zaha Hadid

Our designs dissolved the classic typography of tower and podium to create a seamlessly fluid new structure – establishing a vision for future achievements and referencing the university’s rich tradition. Conceptually, the university’s many different programs provided a guiding principle – ‘collateral flexibility’ – governing the tower’s internal logic.
