Article source: Andrea pelati architecte

In the center of the village of Boudry, the project settles on a narrow plot, surrounded with collective housing, a church and an old mansion. In this motley context and its limited openings, the villa seeks to favor the inhabitants intimacy. Turning its back to the public space, it is widely opened on the park and benefits from the natural green environment. It stretches over three levels to be able to appreciate a few perspectives thanks to the height.

Moliner House in Zaragoza, Spain by Alberto Campo Baeza

Saturday, February 11th, 2012

Article source: Alberto Campo Baeza

To build a house for a poet. To make a house for dreaming, living and dying. A house in which to read, to write and to think.

We raised high walls to create a box open to the sky, like a nude, metaphysical garden, with concrete walls and floor. To create an interior world. We dug into the ground to plant leafy trees.

Cutting resort environment out of urban environment

Nowhere resort is the resort program that is renting out weekly vacation house. Suggesting new urban life style by making shorten the distance to weekend house from standard 3 hours up to 1 hour. The environment must get close to urban when shorten the distance, the issue comes to how to cut off resort environment out of there. Therefore Nowhere but Sajima comes to build long and thin tube-like spaces that bundle them into one home unit. The tube-like spaces are facing toward the ocean and at the same time intercept the sight from the next condominium. The building is controlling both privacy and scenery.

This project for the renovation of an existing boathouse and new 600 sq.ft. second storey guest suite is located in the Muskoka Lakes region of Ontario.  Situated at the end of a narrow bay, the design of the new boathouse mediates between extended views out to the wide vista of the distant lake and the immediacy of the enclosed forested shoreline of the bay.  The design provides a lens for these varied views as well as a sheltering foil to the open lake breezes and water traffic.  The project called for the renovation of an existing two slip boathouse and the addition of a second storey guest suite and roof terrace.

The proposal represents and symbolizes the new centrality that Blas Infante Square offers in a contemporary way. The project is developed from the duality of the two scales that are mixed: the scale of the neighborhood, immediate environment, and a larger size, the city and its historic center.
