Parking garage Meksiko in Ljubljana, Slovenia by Darko Lečnik

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

Article source: Darko Lečnik

The parking garage is located at the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana. The project was commissioned by a company that builds residential and commercial buildings in Slovenia and prepares sites for the Hofer commercial network. A condition of the investor was that a classic HOFER supermarket had to be located on the ground floor in the standard form and dimensions of Hofer shops throughout Europe. The task was a very difficult one for designers, since the structural grid used in HOFER shops do not correspond to the grid required for the rational design of a parking garage.

Article source: Carola Vannini Architecture

Thisluxurious
apartment, located close to the Colosseo area, has been reorganized through a complete and detailed design project.  The client’s main need of opening the space toward the outside landscape, generated a design characterized by light and airy rooms.  Several windows have been reopened and the interior distribution has been changed in order to create multiple perspectives.  The main space of the day area is the kitchen volume, which relates directly to both the entrance and the living room.It is designed as an isolated volume, separated from ceiling and floor with continuous LED lights. Two white sliding-glass doors allow the kitchen to be open or closed, depending on the user’s needs.

Rufo House in Toledo, Spain by Alberto Campo Baeza

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

Article source: Alberto Campo Baeza

The brief was to build a house on a hilltop outside of the city of Toledo. The hill faces southwest and offers interesting views of the distant horizon, reaching the Gredos Mountains to the northeast.

The site measures 60 x 40 m and has a 10-meter slope. At the highest point, we established a longitudinal podium, 6 meters wide and 3 meters high, that extends from side to side the entire length of the site. All of the house’s functions are developed inside of this long box, the length of concrete creating a long horizontal platform up high, as if it were a jetty that underlines the landscape with tremendous force.
