In Johannesburg, South Africa, Nico Van Der Meulen Architects designed this spectacular 26,000 square foot home. The owner’s only criteria were an open, light filled plan, and views of the garden from all rooms. The architects devised a massive complex of living spaces, arranged in a semi-circular pattern to envelope the garden. Monolithic concrete framework is arranged in a radial pattern, emanating from the center of the home. The framework complements outdoor living spaces, including decks, patios, pools, and fountains.

Article source: Ecosistema Urbano

The whole proposal for the eco-boulevard in Vallecas can be defined as an urban recycling operation consisting of the following actions: insertion of an air tree-social dynamizer, over an existing urbanization area, densification of existing alignment trees and reduction and asymmetric arrangement of wheeled traffic circulation. Superficial interventions reconfiguring the existing urbanization (perforations, fillings, paint, etc.) that defaces the executed kerb development.

A young couple with a beautiful daughter visited my office one day.
They wanted a unique house. Something that they have not seen…
We talked about a house that is made of large steps that keeps on rising.
We also explored spirals. All these talks stopped suddenly when we realized that the client had a tight budget.

This house is located in suburbs of Oita-city. The place is a small-scale residential quarter developed about 30 years ago.The housing lot exists together to the farmland, and atmosphere there calm compared with the city part. There is no special, wonderful view. However, the flow of light and the wind is correct and solid. We thought about a suitable house for this environment. About what should be of the house with opened condition, such as farmlands and fields there before.
