The project developed by RTA-Office belongs to a big master plan that includes three different museum buildings surrounded by a big green area. The Anhui Provincial Paleontological Fossils Museum and the Anhui Provincial New Museum are already built. RTA-Office was involved in the design of the third one, the Anhui Provincial Art Museum. The plot is located in a new politic and cultural district. The new building will occupy the Southwest corner of the park. The client asked for a design in accordance with the surrounding environment, for a modern architectural concept, simple and elegant, at the same time for a design with complete functions.
COMPLETION OF THE KINETIC BUILDING-SITE ART INSTALLATION »2X5« BY THE ARTISTS GROUP REALITIES:UNITED AT THE GRANOFF CENTER FOR THE CREATIVE ARTS AT BROWN UNIVERSITY IN PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND, USA
‘2×5’ is a permanent kinetic light installation for the new “Perry and Marty Granoff Center for the Creative Arts” by the architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The art installation has been realized for Brown University in the framework of a building-site art competition with international invitations. It will be dedicated on April 3rd 2012.
The groove in the land packs the 6.5 m cube, the cantilever and the bridge link the two levels connecting the street to the ancient tree in the backyard. The artist’s dwelling is discreet highlighting art works and experiences in progress. Metal is visible, in the sculptures In cuts, bends, welds and paints scissors, brushes, crayon, gas and fire characters in a blend of home and workshop. In an industrial district of crude landscape among sheds, trucks and highways the house is a small factory of beauties.
Completed in 2006, The Museum Residences is a 127,000 square-foot residential and retail building located on the corner of 12th Ave. and Acoma St. in Denver, CO. The building’s name refers to its adjacency to the Denver Art Museum extension also designed by SDL.
