Oresen House in Sapporo, Japan by Akasaka Shinichiro Atelier (designed using Vectorworks)

Design Philosophy

Rather than imposing our own designs unilaterally, we think of clients as equal partners in the process of discussing requests and problems, which are then resolved through design and planning. While the end product of this process is a physical structure, we think of our fundamental role as designing human-to-human and human-to-environment relationships.

Our goal is to create architecture whose meaning and purpose is derived through ongoing communication with clients.

Espai Ridaura in Girona, Spain by Capella Garcia Arquitectura (designed using ArchiCAD)

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Article source: Capella Garcia Arquitectura

This is a multipurpose facility in Santa Cristina d’Aro, Girona, in the district of Baix Empordà. Santa Cristina d’Aro is situated close to the coast, in the upper reach of the Vall d’Aro, and the river Ridaura flows through it close to the town centre. The municipality is growing as a result of the large amount of tourist activity during the summer months, which means that it already possesses considerable leisure and cultural facilities. Nonetheless, the facilities in Santa Cristina were very basic and quite a few years old, as well as being at some distance from the town centre. So much so that the concerts of the Santa Cristina International Chamber Music Festival took place in the parish church.

Sport Complex and Swimming Center in La Florida, Spain by NAOS Architecture

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Article source: NAOS Architecture

The location of the Sport Complex and Swimming Center in La Florida, Vigo, was a challenge because it was in a empty space of a built block, with a very high slope. So, the superior level stayed and the building was constructed below this level and it develops the functional program semi-buried. Therefore, on top of the building, was projected a public square and the slope of the terrain.

Article source: MenoMenoPiu Architects

“The transparency makes the continuity between inside and outside, the outside comes inside and vice-versa. An eclectic conquest of the space makes the building not a barrier but a dynamic urban link, crossed by a linear flexible path across Bauhaus history. The idea of creating a new unity by the marriage of many arts and movements”.

Sunday, April 1st, 2012

Article source: Dietmar Feichtinger Architectes

A public institution with a strong identity

The school is distinguished by its spatial organization and design of the facades of their surroundings. The free form differentiates the building from its environnement of rigid social housing characterizing the area ‘Province de France’ in Nanterre. There is a relationship point of view (a view relation) with the Paris business district La Défense. The highly frequented, Route Nationale 314 runs west to the school building. The site was excavated and earth mound planted.

TMW technical museum Vienna in Austria by querkraft

Sunday, April 1st, 2012

Article source: querkraft

During summer 2010 the technical museum together with querkraft architekten designed a new entrance foyer and museum shop.

A modern museum service requires a correspondingly modern level of service – for this purpose space is a must. older museum buildings are challenged to expand and modernise whilst remaining attached to their existing historical structures. in the 90s the technical museum faced precisely this difficulty as it tried to gain more space for a larger entrance foyer, a new museum shop and café as well as sufficient amenities, cloakroom space and ticketing capacity. the architectural solution that was chosen in the 90s was a steel-glass box placed in front of the existing historical structure. this solution proved problematic on a few levels shortly after the opening in 1999. the foyer was dominated by large temperature fluctuations, poor acoustics and ventilation, as well as less than optimal visitor circulation.

Oakland House in California by Kanner Architects

Sunday, April 1st, 2012

Article source: Kanner Architects

Located in Oakland, California, on a down-sloping site high above the San Francisco Bay, this home was designed to capture the magnificent vistas spanning from the Bay Bridge to the Golden Gate Bridge. Floor-to-ceiling glass clears the way to unobstructed views. The predominantly south-southwest orientation required deep overhangs to cut down glare and soften the light quality in the home.

Oficina Vidre Negre in Piemonte, Italy by Damilano Studio Architects

Sunday, April 1st, 2012

Article source: Damilano Studio Architects

Oficina Vidre Negre was born as a contemporary sculpture, a symbol of a dynamic and continuous development with the need for strong identification, even in terms of image.

In a context of peripheral node of the motorway, the building is set within a park, planted with native species, in which a sort of town square accompanied to the entrance.

The dynamism of the client is shown in architecture, volume changing, a prism completely covered in black glass faceted and integrated photovoltaic panels.

The structure is split reflected in the wide expanse of water over the stage function, is the reserve of water for fire-fighting system and irrigation of the park.
