Mirror Mongayt in Moscow, Russia by BERNASKONI (designed using ArchiCAD and AutoCAD)

Friday, May 4th, 2012

Article source: BERNASKONI

How to build an energy-efficient designer villa for $ 800 for sq m? «Mirror Mongayt» villa solves this problem.

The front south facade is designed for a specific period of time as an art installation in a form of a temporary structure. Every eight years the house clears the skin. Changing of the facade is a landmark event, a family tradition and a newsbreak. The first facade – mirror pixels reflecting the sky and the forest and dissolving the house in the environment.

Microrifugio alpino – Wardrobe in the landscape in Madesimo, Italy by Enrico Scaramellini Architetto

Friday, May 4th, 2012

Article source: Enrico Scaramellini Architetto

The project is based on two specific conditions: – on one side the client’s needs, looking for a small and intimate space; – on the other a small, special and precious place. The alpine landscape dominates the place: it becomes evident the condition of a privileged and unique space.

The concept of size guides the project. Great is the land, the landscape: small is the place, the space. There is a mutual relationship that inspires the design process. What is the role of the “room” in relation to the landscape? How the landscape reflects, “adopts” the room? The point of view changes in a frenzied search for balance.

‘Dance Floor’ Recreation and Memorial Park in Ronabanya, Hungary by SAGRA Architects

Friday, May 4th, 2012

Article source: SAGRA Architects

The site is situated in the Karancs-Medves landscape area in North-East Hungary. Around and in the city of Salgótarján the memorials, geological and mining attractions are forming a hiking trail. Along this trail is set the „Dance floor” Recreation  and Memorial Park. The site is embraced by the surrounding hills and huge hillside trees. In our architectural concept we aimed to preserve and strengthen this special character of the place. The park would function as an exhibition for the mining memorials and as a natural recreational area. The organising element in the park is a wall providing covered space. This space can be used for exhibitions and performances.  Open air theatre may also function here, the covered space is used for stage and the “Dance floor” as auditorium.

Les Thermes in Strassen, Luxembourg

Friday, May 4th, 2012

Article source: HVP

A large communal leisure amenity set in the landscape but yet easily reachable in terms of transportation. The building is elliptical in plan, the volume is (to quote the architects) a “flying saucer”. Deliveries are made underground; at ground floor level there is a large entrance hall that functions as a distributor and is connected to the swimming area by floor-toceiling glazing. From the hall one makes one’s way to the changing rooms, swimming zones, sauna area as well as to the lift leading to the upper floor. There are three different swimming areas, each separated by broad relaxation zones with rich planting and separate access to the outside.

Ideas Competition for the Re-qualification and Redevelopment of the Beach and Seafront of Figueira da Foz and Buarcos – 2nd Prize

The 400 m walk to reach the waterfront of the “claridade” beach in Figueira da Foz, isolates the city and its inhabitants from the sea. The prominent shape of the coastline in Buarcos is the starting point of a linear gesture that stretches along the whole waterfront of Figueira da Foz, sewing together the existing promenade and the beach front, and ending at the tip of the northern pier.

Daejeon Landmark in Korea by François Blanciak Architect

Friday, May 4th, 2012

Article source: François Blanciak Architect

As the culminating point of a larger planning scheme, the design for this landmark building proposes to link eighteen towers within a single inverted crown, which at once liberates the ground to enhance public space, and provides a large circular garden on its roof to act as a 360° observatory for the City of Daejeon. The liberation of the central space of the building at ground level allows its different programmatic elements (offices, apartments, hotel and museum) to share a naturally lit, circular, inside yet outside park. Structurally, the building is made of 6 independent elements that only connect in the upper circular floors.
