Article source: Rechner d.o.o.

The idea of building a new bus station in Osijek was created in 2007, when the city of Osijek published an invitation to tender for the construction of a new bus station in Osijek on the principle of public-private partnerships. The tender required high quality architectural, and an economically best solution, in terms of construction cost, maintenance and usage. We, the renowned Croatian architect’s office Rechner Ltd. from Osijek, were hired by one of the greatest Croatian construction companies “Osijek Koteks Inc.” from Osijek, and together we won the tender previously mentioned.

A Wandering in Between Line & Hollows in Garches, France by Aude Borromee Architecte

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

Article source: Aude Borromee Architecte

The project aimed at creating a terrace connected to the kitchen at level one of a house and also allowing to go down towards the garden. It was deeply constrained by urbanistic rules (maximum length including stairs, no view towards the neighbors’ garden…) and the idea was, through an original design, to succeed in integrating the project into the environment as well as keeping some natural light for the room located at garden level behind the future terrace. This last constraint implied the trapezoidal shape of the plan and the creation of structures positioned obliquely and with hollow poles to also be used as shelves.

This  family which wanted to build this house was motivated by the change of their living situation and wanted to express this also in their new house. The two children of this family wanted to have their own living surrounding but also wanted to be in close contact with the parents. On the other hand the parents wanted to have more private zones in the new house but also be in close contact with their children.

Cutty Sark in London, England by Grimshaw

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

Article source: Grimshaw

Cutty Sark epitomises the great age of sail; she is the last surviving tea clipper. Her remarkable story is tangible evidence of the centuries long importance of sea-trade to this country and to the growth of London as the world’s pre-eminent port and trading centre. Built as a tea clipper, where speed to market was critical, it is the combination of sail and hull form which gave Cutty Sark her edge. The hull shape is defined by the revolutionary 19th century composite iron and timber shipbuilding technique.

Charroux, village of the XVIIth century part of the heritage of the most beautiful villages of France. An ancient franked fortified town, eminent point of the medieval trade shining under the air of Dukes du Bourbonnais. Today mystified, the village looks like a frozen museum where the time seems to have stopped.
