The client wanted to build a house for four people. The willingness to use eco friendly insulation materials quickly led us to choose a wooden structure. Beyond any environmental considerations, a light construction was necessary because of a very humid soil. The wooden framework thus proved appropriate on both grounds.

A shopping center with 12 shops facing one of the most valuable corners of the city of Porto Alegre, Brazil. The work was conceived and executed with industrial materials, and its macrostructure made in precast concrete, optimizing runtime. The gallery formed by the coverage balance is projected at 1.5 m above street level, not conflict visually with the parking lots that require quick places like this, heavy traffic.

Explicit Architecture is working on the Explicit high-riser, an energy self-sufficient skyscraper and an independent city within a city. The focus is on a sustainable, economical, ecological, and energy-efficient design that benefits not only the people who live and work in the building, but also those in the surrounding city. The mega-structure currently measures 100 x 100 x 300 meters (L x W x H) and will accommodate all functions necessary for an urban area on approx. 400,000 m² of floor space, while offering a high quality of life on all levels.

A landmark project completed as part of a waterside revitalization project – our three-part structure, comprising apartments, offices and artists’ studios, woven through, around and over the arched bays of a disused railway viaduct. Our buildings interact playfully with the viaduct, creating new exterior spaces and vistas.
As part of an initiative undertaken by the City of Vienna to revitalize the Wiener Guertel, a neglected urban hinterland which traditionally marked the ‘dividing line’ between indigenous Viennese and immigrant communities, we designed and constructed the Spittelau Viaducts Housing Project.
