Film Theatre Hilversum in Netherlands by Arc2 architecten & MOOST

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012

Article source:  Arc2 architecten & MOOST

The Film Theatre Hilversum consists of three cinemas. The glass frontage merges the foyer with the public space outside. The supporting frame is built in laminated wood, and organizes the foyer into a number of cosy niches where audience members can enjoy a drink before the film. The volume of the theatre nestles under a bend in a vehicle ramp. On this side its facade is opaque with a scaly cladding of fibre-cement sheeting.

The Cyclops in Hilversum, HOLLAND by NIO architecten

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012

Article source:  NIO architecten

‘The twelve houses form an integral part of a soundproof embankment along a secondary road from Diependaal, an exclusive residential district in the woods of Hilversum. Despite its inhospitable setting and the clients’ initial scepticism, the futuristic, not to say fantastic, design of the houses attracted users who bought their houses of the drawing board, several years before delivery.

Modernist Pavilion by Eduardo V. Flores

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012

Article source:  Eduardo V. Flores

Starting very early cultural production aimed at the promotion of a genuinely Brazilian Architecture, Eduardo deepened in the areas of Design, Architecture and Arts, rescuing several fundamental characteristics of Brazilian Modernism of the 40s. Based on School Carioca, a national style of architecture internationally called Brazilian Style, the artist brings out the whole spirit of that era combining an invigorating nostalgic architecture to what is most modern and sustainable building processes. In defense of a truly Brazilian style, Eduardo has raised questions among academic students of Architecture and managed to change the view of students who had a predilection for international styles and achieved more followers of his vision \”Neo-Modernist\”.
