After years of working in film in NYC, Currie Person decided to take a leap of faith and return to her hometown of Austin, Texas and open a housewares boutique. She called upon LVMinc to help make her vision come to life.

Over a long weekend in Austin, Larah sketched and designed the concept for Spartan. For a long and narrow space, storage and display were the main requirements and guests needed to feel free to browse around and not feel confined within the space. Larah solved this by introducing a full length wall of tiered cantilevered shelves with an integrated lip to avoid items from falling and below, a suspended millwork piece for additional back up storage.

No visible hardware was used to allow the products themselves to be the only items on view. For the display tables, a local timber was used for the tabletops and steel plumbing extrusions were used for the leg supports. The display tables took on the \”nesting table\” concept to allow for flexibility in use. The back wall of the boutique has an asymmetrical pattern of timber panels with hooks embedded for another way to display products. The counter height desk gives maximum storage with minimal visual impact.

Spartan takes on a \”gallery\” concept where the interior space needs to be highly functional and acts solely as a foundation for the products themselves to take center stage. Spartan is a light and airy space that welcomes its guests with candor and curiosity.
