Saturday, November 10th, 2012

Article source: Gestion Rene Desjardins

Once they had chosen a wooded site, the mandate was to create a house that would specifically address the children’s well-being. From there, the mother was interested in colour and the father wanted a design that would last “indefinitely”. As for the style, they agreed it would be modern but “not minimalist”.

Barrier Island House in Vero Beach, Florida by Sanders Pace Architecture

Saturday, November 10th, 2012

Article source: Sanders Pace Architecture

This project is located within a waterfront neighborhood of modest 1950’s era houses alongside many more recent supersized replacements. Our process began by evaluating the client’s goals with their existing property in order to determine whether or not the existing single family residence on the site could accommodate their needs. After an early visit to the site it was determined that any improvement to the existing residence would require the demolition of the original terrazzo slab on grade, perhaps the property’s best asset.

NATURE. Source of inspiration

Since the beginning of times, nature has been a continuous source of inspiration, from the simplest of forms to the most complex ones, it has been a reference for all the artistic disciplines that have tried to imitate it, abstract it or simply tried to freely interpret it.

Mandai Courtyard House in Mandai, Singapore by Atelier M+A

Saturday, November 10th, 2012

Article source: Atelier M+A

Setting amidst the nature reserve that bounds the Upper Seletar reservoir, the bungalow at Mandai area is bestowed with the serenity and repose rarely found in the island of buzzling Singapore.

In the island where every inch of land is dear, the owner’s brief for a single-storey bungalow house is unusual, and reflects a nonchalant attitude towards the mainstream practice of maximising the allowable buildable area granted by the authority.
