Wednesday, December 5th, 2012

Article source: Marshall Moya Design

Marshall Moya Design in association with Cannon Design worked together to create the new UDC Student Center, with an expected completion in the Fall of 2013. This project incorporates a new ground-floor restaurant, meeting spaces, fitness center, and ballroom, all addressing specific needs of the student community. This blend of public and intimate spaces helps to create a haven for these college students, and cater to community needs. The design provides collaborative spaces that will foster and cultivate student relationships and develop school identity. The building will achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum status, which recognizes designs in buildings that incorporate sustainable green initiatives.

The Bath is very important room in the house and is probably the only one place for staying alone, relaxing, thinking and dreaming.

We chose the name H2O in geometry, because water is a leading element in the idea of our Bath project. It represents the natural connection between this room and the man.

This small intervention, in the middle of a banana plantation, is inspired by the particular environmental conditions to respond to an elementary program. This construction, vibrated concrete blocks embedded in one of the greenhouses, required special treatment for it´s purpose as a  flexible space destined to a variety of events. Therefore, the promoters proposed us to qualify an unfinished building on a site with spectacular scenic values.

Boat’s House at Millstätter Lake in Carinthia, Austria by MHM architects

Tuesday, December 4th, 2012

Article source: MHM architects

The boathouse was built as a solitary building at the Seebodner lakeside of the Millstätter lake in Carinthia. The location of the construction is characterized by the intersection line between water and soil, directly at the foot a precipitous slope in which also the remaining buildings of the property complex are situated. Due to their elevated position, those houses have an extensive view at the south and the west façade of the boathouse.
