Tumbaco Cabins by Diez + Muller Arquitectos

Wednesday, December 19th, 2012

Article source: Diez + Muller Arquitectos

The opportunity of re-conceptualizing the idea of what the cabin ¨typology¨, is what made this commission very interesting. In a 4 hectares property and an orchard of trees, we had this opportunity.
The clients required two cabins to complement their weekend home, and thus enabling to share their property with their extended family. Simplicity both in the typology as well as the program allowed us to give a more conceptual and less functional approach to develop our ideas.

Folk Arts Camp in Nagykálló, Hungary by Ekler Architect

Wednesday, December 19th, 2012

Article source: Ekler Architect

This new development is the extension of a summer camp built in the late 80s. The old buildings of the Folk Arts Camp were designed by Dezso Ekler and received wide publicity at the time. Now three new buildings are planned to build: a reception building, a building for different activities and a building accommodating sanitary facilities. The local council insisted on the new constructions also bearing the mark of the original buildings’ architect, and the designer interpreted this by enlarging his signature as buildings.

LCV. Law-Court offices in Venice, Italy by C+S Architects

Wednesday, December 19th, 2012

Article source: C+S Architects

Inhabited infrastructure

The project is a winning entry of an international competition. The building is a graft in the complexity of the Venetian urban system facing Piazzale Roma, the car-entrance space to the city of Venice. At the same time it becomes the ‘infrastructure’ which brings an existing 19th century complex factory (Ex-Manifattura Tabacchi) to a contemporary use: in fact it houses the technological systems  serving the whole.

The Field in Turin, Italy by Atelier 37.2

Wednesday, December 19th, 2012

Article source: Atelier 37.2

This field was set on a pedestrian square, in front of a church, in the city centre of Torino for the Architettura in citta Festival. This installation is composed of eleven “proteiforme” wooden sculptures partly filled with soil. Although each sculpture seems to share the same DNA, they are all unique.
