Saturday, November 24th, 2012

Article source: Prokofyev-Archigroup

At the crossing of the transport routes in the cities, where there is constant presence of people and their movement, there is formed certain public space, which has its own especial atmosphere. Usually, stations in any country of the world, in any city, both bus and railway, arouse people’s typical formed stereotypes. And what if they are all identical? Same dowel, same rails and typical bulkheads over them. That is why each station should have its own unique appearance, its own atmosphere.

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

Article source: Peñín Architects

The Project focuses on questions like density, porosity, intimacy and adaptation to the city, through the alternancy between void and mass. In the framework of a master plan developed together with OAB and Edifica for the area occupied by the former Villa Dolores at the west side of the city of Castellón, the proposal for those social houses is placed in the most geometrically complex site, with a triangular perimeter with a curved hypotenuse.

Sustainable Gas Station Avia Marees in Den Oever, The Netherlands by Knevel Architecten BV

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

Article source: Knevel Architecten BV

The commission concerns the construction of a sustainable gas station and related program for Avia Marees close to the ‘Afsluitdijk’ and the exit of motorway A7 in Den Oever. The gas station is located on a prominent location in the industrial area between provincial roald N99 and the mainroad to Den Oever. The location will combine the weekly or even daily practice of fuelling with office space and a fishmonger. This development proposes principles such as sustainability, specific crafts from the region and climate neutral buildings. On a long plot, a two sided orientated design expresses a division in key elements. This results in a visual en physic relation between the Havenweg (the main road to the village) and the N99. From the Havenweg the building could be described as inviting and form the N99 it is highly visible and spatially interesting.

URV In Catalunya, Spain by Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

Article source: Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya

Halfway between the park and the city, the new building brings together several colleges and aims to make possible the transition between the natural and the urban. On the one hand, it can be discovered between the trees as a small fragmented piece allowing an easy integration with the surrounding park. But, on the other hand, it is able to offer a more compact urban façade that binds with the urban topography reaching the usual height of the city.

This sauna is a small levitating house, moored on the roof of an old factory to experiment dry heat sessions with a view on the poplars. At reasonable temperature, it also makes a perfect writing room. It was built as a DIY community project for L-sud association in the old Kugler factory in the center of Geneva.
