Miami Beach Convention Center in florida by OMA

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013

Article source: OMA

Typically, as convention centers evolve their footprints expand. In Miami Beach—an island where every acre is precious and the only “periphery” is ocean—the convention center has claimed an entire precinct for asphalt. Since its initial construction in the 1950’s, the Miami Beach Convention Center has expanded twice, each time claiming more open space from the city and looming closer to its neighbors.

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013

Article source: Rossetti Architects

This project is part of a 22-acre urban renewal plan, connecting an Asian city with its major sea port. Its goal is to revitalize a depressed area by catalyzing growth powered by a new soccer stadium and mixed-use development. The design team carefully integrated the stadium’s site and program to respond to its urban context. An existing multi-modal transit station became a critical anchor in the northwest corner.

Parking lot. 308 places. For a better reading, signalling systems are differentiated, black and white for vehicles, color for the pedestrians. The complex volumes of the parking lot, uniformly painted in white, make profitable the light and make more present the information addressing the users, in the form of easily locatable spots of colour. Blocks sheltering the vertical traffic(circulations) are bathed by an artificial light in the same nuances, red, orange, yellow orange as those used for the pedestrians.

Gosta Museum of Fine Art extension in Mantta, Finland by gianluca milesi architecture

TheGostaMuseumis placed in a very particular location, merged in an extremely fascinating natural environment. Starting from this character of the existing museum building and the future extension, we thought to design a building that could be at the same time respectful of nature and could be merged itself in the particular environment. We thought at the building as a built media connecting the works of art and the visitors to the panorama and the beauty of nature.

House ‘M’ is located in a rural area surrounded by mountains in Yamaguchi-Prefecture, Japan. The clients, a couple who used to work long hours in the busy city, wanted a quiet house in the nature in relation to the rhythm of the sun.

This small house (100m2) was designed so that the clients would be able to wake up every morning and enjoy the soft light of the rising sun. The exterior walls of the house are made of a semi translucent tent material which allows the sun to penetrate softly inside the house.

Palace of Camarena, Central of the C.O.A.E (Official Association of Architects from Extremadura) in Caceres, Spain by Arquitectos Ayala

Historic Reference

The Palace of Marqués of Camarena stands on the grounds of a former fortress house, dating from the XV century. Only part of the tower at one side of the building remains standing. The main front of the palace still keeps its masonry relatively level. It still has the sound and noble air of the old times. The other front looked disordered and it did not seem to belong to the whole. In the inside the most interesting find was the central cloister, very well preserved, although in showed signs of having undergone but few changes.

I used to live in a college for so many years. There the students were distributed in sunny rooms or darkness rooms. Due to I never got the needed status and college prestige, I could never be moved to the sunny rooms. It seemed that students from these sunny rooms were happier and with better color as we used to have painful look.
