Rebière 21 Housing in Paris, France by Hondelatte Laporte Architectes

Tuesday, March 26th, 2013

Article source: Hondelatte Laporte Architectes

The building is part of a major and innovative operation to improve the urban environment around Porte Pouchet bordering on Paris (17th district), the Parisian ring road, Clichy and Saint-Ouen. Nine teams of architects worked together to create 180 housing units, as part of a workshop named “Autrement Rue Rebière” and chaired by Paris Habitat and Périphériques architects. The idea of narrowing the section of Rue Rebière that runs alongside the Parisian Batignolles cemetery leads to recovery a strip of almost 600m in length and 12.60m in width.

Coma 02 House in Castellón, Spain by Juan Marco Marco

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013

Article source: Juan Marco Marco

The house is located on a lot of 1560 square meters, with a complex topography of steep slopes both in the longitudinal (north-south) and transversal (east-west) directions. The strategy for the project is developed from two initial decisions:

– Locating the dwelling in the highest area (the least usable, a priori), where the slope is the steepest, to generate horizontal areas (habitable, usable) in the rest of the lot. In this way, the entire lot can be surveyed from the house, the relationship with the landscape is thus intensified, and the best natural ventilation is taken advantage of, which is important given the harsh climate especially in the summer.

The Beam in Villeneuve d’Asqc, France by MVRDV

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013

Article source: MVRDV

Villeneuve d’Ascq is a new town located near Lille in the very north of France. The Beam will be icon of a larger urban generation effort in the town centre which is currently characterised by parking lots, large volumes and undefined green spaces. On an urban level the masterplan aims at a more sustainable form of development by densifying the town centre and adding identity and diversity to the site. The creation of pedestrian zones, and the demarcation and connection of the existing green spaces together also form part of the plan.

Vitapharm Office and Distribution Building in Murska Sobota, Slovenia by Studio Kalamar d.o.o.

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013

Article source: Studio Kalamar d.o.o.

Following the expansion of their production, the company pharmaceuticals company Galex commissioned a new structure adjacent to their existing laboratories building from 1999. Connected with the old building by an overhang, the new structure houses offices on the upper floor and manipulation areas on the ground floor. Its pronounced horizontal form echoes the outline of surrounding wheat fields, the natural setting also influences the subdued selection of materials and colour scheme: concrete elevations are complemented by details in black and silver metal.
