Armoni in México by ARCO Arquitectura Contemporánea

Wednesday, March 20th, 2013

Article source: ARCO Arquitectura Contemporánea

A new image, modern and timeless, was the guideline for the interior design of apartment Armoni. The goal was achieved by maintaining the existent areas and distribution, making small changes to the original project to transform it into a more functional and open space. The floor plan of the building is semicircular and some modifications had to be done to generate more regular spaces and a contemporary atmosphere with the adequate selection of elements.

Lido in St Leonards-on-Sea, UK by Quixotic Architecture

Article source: Quixotic Architecture

The proposed site for the Lido beach pavilion development stands 0.8 miles west of Marine Court on the site of Sidney Little’s famous 1930’s bathing pool in West St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex. The project is aimed at regenerating the most westerly end of St Leonards seafront and is situated on the new south coast cycle route between Bexhill and Hastings.

Lido will function as a stylish beach resort with outdoor recreation, leisure and entertainment facilities directly on the beach. As a place of rest and recreation, the beach bar and restaurant will provide informal dining and bar facilities for up to 300 visitors. The pavilion will also offer use of changing and showering facilities to beach visitors and those keen to enjoy the non-motorised watersports the area has to offer.

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

Article source: Daniel Hopwood

A Regency house which featured in House & Garden in the 1970’s had been purchased by a newly married couple ready to start their family life. Whilst stunning in its time, the house had become tired and needed updating, which paved the way for the rooms to be reconfigured to maximise space and views of the beautiful garden to the rear of the property.

Jill Bruno Orthodontics in Chevy Chase, Maryland by FORMA Design, Inc

Soft curves and rounded elements in the design of this 12th floor 1500sf dental office allude to the clouds outside, and evoke the touch of femininity the doctor desired. The majority of the space is a white shell, allowing light and shadow to emphasize the curves and to serve as a neutral backdrop to select areas of color that animate the space. The sense of openness and transparency is reinforced through the sharing of natural light from the exterior windows through the glass walls in the perimeter offices.

Workshop Siegen in Germany by Ian Shaw Architekten

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

Article source: Ian Shaw Architekten

This scheme’s abstract form references the classic garage format with forecourt. The simple steel frame structure is clad in translucent panels to reduce energy consumption and facilitate productivity. At night, the workshop functions as a light beacon, illuminating the main entrance to the industrial complex. Internally, the building’s skin delivers a defused light, creating a relaxed environment in which to work, uncluttered by the visual harshness of the industrial surroundings.
