Article source: Studiounodesign

Scalo 13 is a new bar & restaurant set inside a building that was designed to be used as a Directional Centre. Dating back to 1913, this area was once a massive hangar for the storage of airships (or dirigible blimps) whose purpose was to patrol the coastal areas of the Tyrrhenian and Ligurian Seas. A classical time period theme was the concept recommended for the development of the project design and decoration of the establishment.

New Headquarters of the Province in Bergamo, Italy by Andrea Maffei Architects

Tuesday, April 9th, 2013

Article source: Andrea Maffei Architects

In recent years, the attractive opportunities offered to the city by the famous Bergamo Scienza initiative brought two speakers – W.J. Mitchell and L.E. Robertson – who expressed radically different views on the theme of the skyscrapers. Mitchell considers them obsolete, replaced by computerized progress, Robertson even consider them antidotes to land consumption, pollution and many other problems of the city.

Macrocel in Yucatan, Mexico by Seijo Peon Arquitectos & Asociados

Tuesday, April 9th, 2013

Article source: Seijo Peon Arquitectos

The building was designed for a mobile telephone company, and rises from an initial idea from the clients to create a “warehouse with offices”, i.e., they requested a box with a single door… a building closed to the exterior with a versatile interior that could be exploited for a variety of uses without a space hierarchy. The idea of closing the building to the exterior was mainly needed for security reasons.

House N in Noordwijk, Netherlands by Maxwan Architects + Urbanists

Tuesday, April 9th, 2013

Article source: Maxwan Architects + Urbanists

Built in 1938, this Noordwijk seaside villa was originally the holiday home of a concrete factory owner. Battered and blustered by the salty sea weather over the decades, the house was in need of renovation. Besides roof replacement and basement repairs, the bedrooms, bathrooms and windows were outdated and some spaces had grown too small for the clients’ requirements. Maxwan’s additions bring new distinctive features to the house, while respecting its original character.

Article source: ARCMAIS Architecture

Given the Customer’s request, we designed a Preliminary Study for adequacy, rehabilitation and construction of “School 2027” (Public-Private Partnership) for the District of Maianga in Angola’s capital Luanda. The school will be located on a flat terrain, with an area of about 5 square meters, given the proposed Program of Architectural Renovation of space. Following this proposal, we adopt as a basic premise the initial use of the central space not yet occupied for subsequent demolition of existing blocks, formerly, without interfering with the normal course of lessons.

The Upper Room in Washington, DC by Studio Twenty Seven Architecture

Tuesday, April 9th, 2013

Article source: Studio Twenty Seven Architecture

Located in the upper room of an ambiguous row house along a typical street within the anonymous grid of a Washington DC neighborhood, the aspiration is a micro-expression of modern space and life as spectacle. The program takes a 650 square foot floor space and designs a master bedroom suite including bed area, closet, reading nook, and bathroom. To do this, all interior walls were removed to free this turn-of-the-century home’s compartmentalized space.
