The supporting structure has shifted, and the walls are no longer perpendicular to the floor, which, in turn, is uneven and suffers multiple irregularities.  Image courtesy Svend Andersen
 Image courtesy Svend Andersen A principal wall that stretches from one end to the other punctuates the space, and WY-TO proposes to accentuate its presence by removing all connecting partitions. In their place, the space is rearranged to accommodate two blocks of technical functions: the kitchen’s work area, storage space and wc are housed in one of these, while the other is composed of the wardrobe, washing machine and a niche with the bathroom sink.  Image courtesy Svend Andersen In its initial state, the apartment was equipped with oak doors and extensive cabinetry. It seemed interesting, hence, to recycle the available material to assemble a collage of oak elements and employ this as the façade’s cladding. A satin white finishing is the final touch, lending visual coherence to the patchwork. The integration of photograph and art pieces that adorn certain walls, serve to rhythmically punctuate movement across an otherwise pristinely white and monochrome apartment.
