Shipara in Bangalore, India by SDeG

Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013

Article source: SDeG

Shipara is a new office building tucked into a tight urban site with overbearing buildings on three sides. The front edge faces a lush park in liberating contrast. The programmatic functions are organized on alternating split levels. A circulation spiral orchestrates movement within the volume and links the various staff and management zones. Façade and roof apertures are strategically located to force natural light through, and swerve in different directions to capture defined views of foliage and tree-tops.

Not only should the new Council offices meet the determined requirements of use, but it also should help define one of the most compromising environments of the city, as Vitiato square- where the building is located- is a compulsory stop in the touristic tour around Zamora. The proposal designs the fourth façade of the square, completing the architectonic complex formed by the Encarnación Hospital to the North and the Ramos Carrion Theatre and the Condes de Alba y Aliste Palace to the South.

Long Tall House in Tokyo, Japan by SPACESPACE

Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013

Article source: SPACESPACE

The site is located in a typical Japanese crowded residential area, just middle between two stations near to Shibuya. The house of a young married couple is on a strip of land subdivided for sale (about 4m*16m). It adjoins two paths at north and south sides, and locates on a very old retaining wall which runs along the north path and forms 3.5m height cliff. The path were too narrow to comply the current regulations, so we needed removing a part of the wall so that it could be widened.
