Shoreditch Church Penthouse in London, England by Space Group Architects

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

Article source: Space Group Architects

Shoreditch is no longer up and coming; it is already here, it is alive and it is buzzing. This part of London has been gradually transformed from an arty but gritty neighbourhood into one of the capital’s most desirable areas without having lost its charm. It was our aim to capture this special moment in time. Theexisting building sits in a conservation area and used to contain dysfunctional offices throughout. Part of the brief was to achieve a Change of Use for a duplex penthouse at the top.

HEADQUARTERS STORE in WROCŁAW, Poland by BudCud

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013

Article source: BudCud

Street-wear store is located on the ground floor of a historic tenement house in the city centre of Wroclaw (PL). Shape of an existing volume became a major inspiration and an impulse to design Headquarters Store as an abstract landscape. Arches and gates from steel pipes, filled with glass panels, reinterpret contours of existing barrel vaults and deform standard clothes hanger. Contour objects – together with simple white furniture from medium-density fiberboard – create additional subspaces inside a boutique.

Light Walls House in Toyokawa, Japan by mA-style architects

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013

Article source: mA-style architects

The site is in a shady location where a two-story neighboring house closely stands on the south side, and even the shade and shadow on the path intensify the impression of darkness. Therefore, the design intended to create a space with uniformly distributed light by adjusting the way of letting daylight in, and the way of directing the light. By taking into consideration the space for the residents, the functions for living, and the relationship with the surrounding environment, creation of a diversity and richness in the house was intended by controlling the concept of light.

Article source: EGM architecten

Personal and social space

The Boswijk is a care centre for elders with dementia, designed in close collaboration with the client and with a strong vision as starting point. The centre was to be of a scale that related to its users, and not to be like a traditional nursing home. In spite of their dementia, the patients should be able to live their lives as it always was.

Article source: Nicolas Laisné Architecte Urbaniste

This project, located in the new Berge du Lac area in Bordeaux, includes four collective buildings and ten individual houses which form a block.

The dark shades and unbalanced silhouettes of the three tallest structures echo the tramway. On the other side, the individual houses and a building, covered in wood, are erected along the side of a linear park. Each of these architectural choices responds to the particular circumstances of these buildings.

Overview of the site

Many buildings stand side by side in the shopping district near the train station. There were many partitioned tenement-houses in this area, but currently rebuilding has been proceeding. There is a platform of the conventional lines on the north side of the site. And there is a municipal road that is parallel to the line on the south side of the site. This is a narrow site is surrounded by buildings which was built to site boundary close, on the east and west side. We designed the building in this narrow site.
