Article source: Minosa Description of the House, its local & occupants Situated in the amazing location of Walsh Bay underneath the iconic Harbour Bridge this 80’s apartment block was tired and past it’s used by date. The client was wanting to take this to a very modern tip with the hi end finishes and products. The family consisted of professional couple & their young child. The clients were searching for a fresh contemporary space that better utilised their small bathing space.  Image Courtesy © Minosa
 Image Courtesy © Minosa The Brief Fresh, clean and hi end; the client wanted the bathroom to be connected to the dressing room which was located next to the ensuite and the bedroom there after. They wanted a good use of artificial light as the bathroom had NO window. The client did not like grout as was searching for a seamless product to apply to all walls and the shower floor.  Image Courtesy © Minosa How the requirements of the client brief were achieved & problems solved The biggest challenge with this space was light&the need for the ensuite to be connected to the adjoining dressing room & bedroom. The designers choose to remove the wall between the dressing room and the ensuite and in its place installing the Rimidesio sliding (oversized) door system. With clear glass insert in meant we could capitalise on the northern light that was flooding in all the way down in the adjoin bedroom (beyond the dressing room) and give the ensuite the connection the clients were after.  Image Courtesy © Minosa Another significant design element is the timber floor; the designer selected aengineered Oak floor as there is no movement like you would commonly find with traditional timber flooring. This meant we could install tight to walls with the cladding coming over the floor this plays on the space making it feel so much larger as it runs all the wall thru the space.  Image Courtesy © Minosa The two main focal points are the stunning Antonio Lupi freestanding bath and the floating wall hung Vanity unit with the very impressive Gessi Goccia tapware and oversized basins. These products sit effortlessly in the contemporary space. The Antonio Lupi Corian shower base system was selected to give a watertight environment, which integrated with the shower screen from the same Italian manufacturer.  Image Courtesy © Minosa Lighting was critical to this space, the designer chose to create a recessed light pelment with inset LED lighting as the primary light source, this is dimmable so it can be controlled to create different moods in the space. Task lighting (again LED) sit over each of the zones to add the light required. The final piece to this modern bathroom is the walls; Corian was chosen for it’s quality first but second as it could be installed in a seamlessly to give the space a real slick feeling.  Image Courtesy © Minosa The success of this space is the detail; it was meticulously designed and planned with the client that demanded the best from all that was involved, when bringing product half way around the world site unseen the detail had to be perfect.
