The New Generation Youth and Community Centre in Wells Park, Lewisham, London by RCKa

Tuesday, October 29th, 2013

Article source: RCKa

RCKa played a key role in the genesis of the project, having identified the full extent of local authority site ownership and the opportunity to replace a structurally unsound facility with one wholly aligned with emerging youth provision policy.

The practice also identified the capital funding stream (having worked on the part-funded OPEN youth venue in Norwich), and were instrumental in the preparation of a funding bid to the government’s MyPlace scheme, which was subsequently selected from over 240 competing bids.

One of Foster and Partners most ecologically advanced buildings, the new Library for the Faculty of Philology, was opened today at the Free University, Berlin. The library is the culmination of decades of research and experimentation by the studio on how buildings can utilise passive and active technologies to radically increase energy efficiency and reduce the impact on the environment.

Dill Building by bradley edwards, architect

Tuesday, October 29th, 2013

Article source: bradley edwards, architect

The Dill building is a speculative office building with multiple tenants. As a speculative venture, the budgetary requirements were in play from the outset and careful attention had to be paid as to how and where design elements were executed. A few simple rules were established which helped guide the project forward.

Building the head offices of a social housing operator is a unique and symbolic act. For the public and the operator’s various partners, the building needs to embody and reflect the values of Aquitanis. It needs to convey a gentle form of symbolism.

T-house in Chikushino, Japan by Architect Show Co.,Ltd

Tuesday, October 29th, 2013

Article source: Architect Show Co.,Ltd

This was an existing residential lot with homes on the east, west, and south. Across the street to the north is a park. We began work on the design using the primary concept of harmonization with the park’s lush greenery. We tried to create a facade design that incorporated a lot of the park’s greenery, where local people gathered to relax.
