Article source: Fernandes Arquitetos Associados Nacala is a city located in Mozambique, Africa. It is positioned in an important international air route, but despite that, it lacks of an airport. The building proposed by Fernandes is basically one-story and encompasses the airport operational facilities and those aimed to passenger service, such as check-in area and boarding and disembarking rooms, located in the north and south wings.  Image Courtesy © Fernandes Arquitetos Associados The entire passenger flow occurs always from the center towards ends (‘wings’), both in the entrance and exit. The connection between the two wings is made through the central lobby, also comprised by the mezzanine. They are sheltered by a wide coverage, which connects the several volumes.  Image Courtesy © Fernandes Arquitetos Associados In addition to the Passenger Terminal, the airport complex is comprised by one Cargo Terminal, Control Tower, Maintenance and Runway Equipment buildings and Fire Department (Corpo de Bombeiros) building. It is a milestone for the city and the country, not only for its strategic value, but also for its transforming and renewing role, in a development country, where virtually there are not many large buildings being constructed.
