BLÅVAND BUNKER MUSEUM in Varde, Denmark by BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group

Tuesday, December 17th, 2013

Article source: BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group

Museum Center Blåvand integrates 4 independent institutions – a bunker museum, an amber museum, a histolarium and a special exhibitions gallery – in an exhibition landscape embedded in the dunes. As the antithesis to the heavy volume of the bunker, the museum appears as the intersection between a series of precise cuts in the landscape. A block in the landscape – and a corresponding absence of the dune.

Office Conversion in Stockholm, Sweden by C.F. MØlLLER Architects

Tuesday, December 17th, 2013

Article source: C.F. MØlLLER Architects

A mix of new-built and a transformation of an existing brick office building, formerly occupied by TekniskaNämdhuset, part of the City of Stockholm, the idea behind the proposal is to retain a large proportion of the existing structure, and add a slab building and two smaller point blocks between the former office wings – a solution which, together with the jetty and new terraced stairs facing the water, opens up the buildings  to their surroundings and creates a new, recreational meeting place in central Stockholm.

Strijp R Housing by Diederendirrix Architects

Tuesday, December 17th, 2013

Article source: Diederendirrix Architects

Along with the urban development plan made in collaboration with Buro Lubbers, diederendirrix also developed the housing for a section phase of Strijp R. The ground-access dwellings vary in typology, size, layout and price but clearly form a whole. Our sources of inspiration are clearly visible. The characteristic appearance of the new housing with its jutting concrete roof edges and canopies, alternating roof shapes, storey-high windows and exceptional angles and bay windows is a charming echo of the industrial past of Strijp R.
