Loophouse 2 in Fulham, London by Paul McAneary Architects Ltd

Friday, December 6th, 2013

Article source: Paul McAneary Architects Ltd

This project redefines the internal organization and exterior form of an existing 1960’s single story ranch house. The project for a new master bedroom suite and a guest room leverages the limited scope of work by using the overall new form to give the entire house a new identity. The new massing is positioned forward in relationship to the existing approach and seems to rise upward as the hillside falls. The new master bedroom provides this new front with a formal face, yet does not yet imply entry. As you move further into the site the appearance of a courtyard caught between the existing form and the new massing reveals the new entry.

NOLLA HOUSE in Barcelona, Spain by OAB

Friday, December 6th, 2013

Article source: OAB

The Project proposes placing the house right in the centre of the plot, in such a way as to clearly differentiate two separate parts; an Access garden square and another but more private with a swimming pool.

In the superposition of 3 volumes with convincing geometry a one family house was designed. By going through the access square the double-height entrance hall is reached, joining the transit areas and vertical communication in the house.

Villa B in Lyon, France by Tectoniques Architects

Thursday, December 5th, 2013

Article source: Tectoniques Architects

For architects, designing a house is an adventure, but reality is often not as easy as foreseen. The site is complicated, the neighbours are unhappy, the unforeseen factors are really not foreseen, construction work is not as fast as planned, the ecological goals are difficult to reach, and the contractors are not as qualified as specified, and so on – the list is long. In this situation, the architect will be the arbitrator and the ground-breaker. In the end, the construction seems simple and natural.
