Saturday, October 12th, 2013

Article source: OSCAR GONZALEZ MOIX

The Project is located in an existing condo in La Planicie, overlooking the Golf. Importantly, one of the family members is disabled, so the project should not have any barriers and integrate the lives of others, without altering the aesthetics and function. All in equal conditions. The project is articulated through a 1.50 axle wide circulation, containing all functions in two volumes.

Rod Stewart to open The SSE Hydro, a major new entertainment venue for Scotland

The SSE Hydro, Scotland’s largest purpose-built public event arena, will open to the public with a concert by Rod Stewart on 30 September. Its free spanning roof of 120 metres, large enough to encompass Glasgow’s Queen Street railway station, encloses a highly flexible amphitheatre for an audience of up to 13,000. Externally, the arena is wrapped in lightweight translucent panels taking the excitement of the concert to the city – the whole building can be illuminated to glow as a beacon of colour on the waterfront.

Hackney Marshes Centre in London, England by Stanton Williams

Friday, October 11th, 2013

Article source: Stanton Williams

Hackney Marshes is a unique place. With its origins in ancient woodland and medieval common land, it remains a vast open space. It is a place set apart from the city by a boundary of trees and by the River Lea. Yet it also connects communities, being an important green space in a densely-populated area. In addition, as the London home of amateur Sunday League football, it draws people from across the capital.

OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY PUBLIC SCHOOL in Torre-Pacheco, Spain by Martin Lejarraga Architect

Friday, October 11th, 2013

Article source: Martin Lejarraga Architect

The land on which the School sits is in a new area of strategic growth in the city, in an area with public educational and cultural infrastructures: a library, high school and sports facility.

The project arises from a unique comprehensive idea for dealing with the entire block by creating a new topography to act as a reference point in this expanding zone of Torre Pacheco; a new urban, cultural and leisure area for residents, where the public space – characterized by the folding terrain and the integration of diverse uses – contains and protects the buildings.

ANDALUSIAN INSTITUTE OF BIOTECHNOLOGY in SEVILLE, SPAIN by Sol89

Friday, October 11th, 2013

Article source: Sol89

Located in one of the lots of the former International Exposition of 1992 in Seville, a tertiary landscape saturated with high-flown singularities, a heritage from the exhibition´s pavilions, the competition includes areas for certain medical specialties the surface of which is proportional to the capital invested in each of them. From this proportionality, we proposed a section shaped as a bar chart, setting up three linked voids forming a large space that develops the Center´s circulation and activities.
