Showroom Essebi in Agliana, Tuscany, Italy by MDU architetti

Thursday, September 12th, 2013

Article source: MDU architetti

A sea almost completely built, with a few remaining spots agricultural, crossed by the lines of the roadways of high slip along the east-west: this is the view of the plain of Florence, Prato and Pistoia from the hills that surround it. You can identify the three town centers to the higher settlement density that characterizes them than building more dispersed around them, but now the city has replaced the campaign in the perception of internal hierarchies of the territory. From this vantage point on the hills is only imaginable, at night, the darkness that up to fifty years ago enveloped with the few weak lights at its old centers: the transition from day to night was a gradual dissolution of the light in the silence.

CASA Y in Torino, Italy by F:L architetti

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

Article source: F:L architetti

Set on the hills just outside the city of Turin, CASA Y is a family house designed for a professional couple with 3 children. Clients’ needs were very large spaces devoted to family life and a low-impact energy and house.

Tucked into the hillside, this discreet volume consists in the juxtaposition of two simple parallelepipeds, one in fair-faced concrete and the other in glass covered with cor-ten steel. Concrete and cor-ten are a stylistic choice and a functional one, the answer to the client’s need of ease of maintenance and long-term durability.

Voila House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by Fabian Tan Architect

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

Article source: Fabian Tan Architect

The brief was to transform a typical pitched roofed bungalow house into a modern contemporary home. The configuration of the bedrooms upstairs were retained, extended only to make the rooms larger. The major redesign focused on the ground floor with the disassembling of walls into open plan spaces.

HOUSE L in Oosterhout, Netherlands by GROSFELD VAN DER VELDE ARCHITECTEN

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

Article source: GROSFELD VAN DER VELDE ARCHITECTEN

The plot of House L is sited in the wooded environs of Oosterhout.

The existing landscape, the orientation to the rural surroundings and the planning conditions were the deciding factors in the siting of the dwelling at the rear of the plot.

The ground floor was raised with respect to the current ground level, with large glass surfaces positioned to look out over the rural landscape and terraces running the length of the building with an unbroken roof surface on corbelling, all of which allow the outer space to be experienced to the full. At the same time, the large roof projections are designed to prevent too much light entering.

Article source: PARITZKI LIANI ARCHITECTS

The Savyon residential area was built to guarantee a pleasant isolated life outside the city limits. It is a luxury “gated community” consisting of villas surrounded by parks and gardens and is no more than 18 minutes from Tel Aviv and the Ben Gurion airport. So, although appreciated for its natural surroundings, it has easy access to the country’s various infrastructures and road links.

House in Kew, Australia by Nic Owen Architects

Article source: Nic Owen Architects

The extension is an example of responsible rationalisation of a typical suburban house which offers a stimulating environment and demonstrates environmentally sustainable design.

The project is located on a 740m2 site in Kew. The existing house whilst generously sized lacked a clear thought-out plan. The land fell 5.5m over its length and further aided to dysfunctional arrangement of spaces. The brief required a rearrangement of spaces to better cater for the young family, relating each space to the outside world.

A new restaurant of Catalan chef Sergi Arola recently opened its doors in China, at the Harbour City shopping centre in Hong Kong. The renowned chef created the Vi Cool brand in addition to his Michelin star restaurants and his more contemporary restaurant Vi Roses as an expansion to his luxury venues. The new concept was developed as a restaurant where guests including Arola himself and his family and friends can enjoy the authentic Spanish cuisine in a more informal ambiance.
