AP House by MVN Arquitectos

Tuesday, August 27th, 2013

A terrace was created which allowed us to open up the views overlooking the sea on one side and mountains on the other. We located the building at the edge of the northern boundary at the highest viewpoint as the southern part was very steep. From this position we designed a floor layout that allowed us to enjoy the double prospect of the building and at the same time taking maximum advantage of what the site has to offer.

Article source: Machado and Silvetti Associates

The Wellin Museum is prominently sited on a corner lot, across the road from the Art History department and across a gracious lawn from the future Theatre and Studio Arts Building. This collection of art buildings around a reconstructed pond, designed with Reed Hilderbrand Associates, will create a new arts quad at Hamilton and help develop visual and pedestrian connections between the two sides of campus, a stated goal of the College.

Atriumhaus am Waldrand in Mattsee, Austria by kleboth lindinger dollnig

Article source: kleboth lindinger dollnig

The site with its distinct longitudinal form completes the building development of the village and marks a direct transition to the adjacent nature reserve. Without doing that the usual way by setting up a fence.

Under the pitched roof, required by the authorities, all functions are strung together: storage, carport, wardrobe, sauna, hall and the actual house itself. Prefabricated walls of exposed concrete hold up the roof, the wooden house was constructed underneath it.

Studio for an Architect by Robert Hutchison Architecture

Tuesday, August 27th, 2013

Article source: Robert Hutchison Architecture

This small 2-story art studio replaces an even smaller, uninsulated, structurally unsound, rat-infested 2-car garage. Through the use of a cantilevered concrete slab and cantilevered wood framing, the studio “pops out” in two directions to maximize usable floor area while reusing the original garage foundation.

Bord-du-Lac House in Dorval, Canada by Henri Cleinge Architect

Tuesday, August 27th, 2013

Article source: Henri Cleinge Architect

Approached to renovate a 200 year old Quebec stone house and to design a significant addition, we were challenged to define a clear conceptual approach which would reconcile a contemporary architectural language to the ancestral home. The original structure once belonged to the Hudson Bay Company and had the main entrance facing the river, where the old road was situated. Over time, a new road was built on the back side of the house, which now became the front.

The project “Casa Gòmez” was developed and built by SOSTUDIO between 2011 and 2012 in the residential area at the Puerto Cancun development. By an approach to the deconstructive architecture, the design is organized by combining interior and exterior areas as a single space through big hidable windows, thus favouring the main views to the canal and the hotel zone of Cancun.

The Deodoro Sports Complex was designed for the Rio 2007 Pan-American Games, including in the same cluster the Shooting, Equestrian, Archery, Hockey and Modern Pentathlon facilities. All venues already meet international standards, and will need just minor adjustments and complements for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
