Fashion[ING] Objects in Austin, Texas by Matt Fajkus Architecture

Tuesday, June 17th, 2014

Article source: Matt Fajkus Architecture

FASHION[ING] OBJECTS is an instrument for space, light, and threshold that creates maximal impact with minimal means by arranging and reconfiguring everyday objects in an unexpected and extraordinary way. It is an original backdrop installation piece designed and fabricated for an the annual premier fashion event in Austin, Texas held in September 2012. Beginning with the simple idea of an Erwin Hauer inspired screen, the intention for the backdrop was to veil the models as they emerged from backstage, to dapple light as well as to convey a sense of depth and movement beyond.

JUNCAL & RODNEY HOME in Begur, Girona, España by Pepe Gascon Arquitectura

Tuesday, June 17th, 2014

Article source: Pepe Gascon Arquitectura

Some houses close in on themselves when connection with their surroundings is not desirable. However, others open up to their setting when it is clear that it endows them with qualities and provides their raison d’être and hence must become an intrinsic part of the project. This is the case of the Juncal y Rodney home since it is built on a plot of land located on the Begur massif (Girona) in one of the most sublime settings of the Costa Brava. The longitudinal volume of the north-south-facing building of two storeys – the upper one with three bedrooms and the lower one with the shared spaces – is thus open to the Mediterranean and the series of mountains and coves that are glimpsed on the horizon.

House V at R [2012] in Roeselare, Belgium by BURO II & ARCHI+I

Tuesday, June 17th, 2014

Context

The farm used to consist of several buildings clustered around a residential section. Most farms in the Roeselare area consist of two volumes, situated either parallel or perpendicular to each other. The new home was embedded parallel to the barn. Positioning the home in an L-shape opposite the barn will define the residential section a superior way and strengthen the character of the space. The residential section lies at the heart of the site and acts like a turntable for all internal circulation.
