Article source: BESONIAS ALMEIDA arquitectos

The place

Costa Esmeralda is a real estate development over the dunes on the coast, 390 km from Buenos Aires. This is a recent urban development with young acacias and pines forestation and some sectors of consolidated forest.

The lot to intervene is a high rise dune with the peculiarity of having in part aged woods and also a recent pine plantation, although undoubtedly its most prominent feature is the abruptness of its relief. Between the access road and the highest sector of the lot, located approx. in the plot center, there is a height difference of 12 m, so that in order to access to it is necessary to ascend a slope of more than 45 °.

Green Water Sports Station in Upper Silesia, Poland by KUCZIA architect

Wednesday, June 11th, 2014

Article source: KUCZIA architect

Like a traditional polish farm, the GREEN WATER SPORTS STATION blends into the rural landscape of the shores of Lake Laka in Upper Silesia (Poland).

Three main buildings of the complex – situated orthogonal to each other – define a public place. This place comes into being on the same way like it occurs in the typical polish manor between the cottage, stable and barn. And analogical to them, every building of the Station has a different function: the boat hangar in the east, the central visitors building on the waterfront and the restrooms with showers westward.

New Headquarters of the Territorial Support Center of the Geological Institute of Catalonia in Lleida, Spain by Oikosvia Arquitectura s.c.c.l

Wednesday, June 11th, 2014

Article source: Oikosvia Arquitectura s.c.c.l

The facility is conceived as an abstraction of an “iron monolith”, compact and of pure shape, which represents in one of its sides a “balma” (in catalan, a type of small cave in the base of a rocky formation) which guides us to the inside.

It is formed by means of an exterior skin, the façade, formed by Weathering Steel plates perforated with little holes of different diameter. The plates reproduce a monochrome version of the geological map of the region.

BOULEVARD LAS BRUJAS – COMMERCIAL BUILDING in Santiago, Chile by MAS FERNANDEZ ARQUITECTOS

Saturday, June 7th, 2014

Article source: MAS FERNANDEZ ARQUITECTOS

“Boulevard Las Brujas” building is the synthesis of the accumulated experience in Retail buildings by the office during the last 10 years, such as shopping centers Pio XI , Luis Carrera, San Felix, Av Peru and others.

The large covering that wraps the volumes that contain shops, helps to give the building a strong appearance, leaving the billboards captivated by architecture.

The corporative images of todays main market brands are far away from what one would like as an architect (far away from the reality), with which we have to work on our commercial architecture.
