Brighton Townhouses in VIC 3186, Australia by MARTIN FRIEDRICH ARCHITECTS

Tuesday, May 20th, 2014

Article source: MARTIN FRIEDRICH ARCHITECTS

The Brighton townhouses address the strong desire to live comfortably, maximising area on a more compact site.  Gone are the days of abundant grounds. Inner Melbourne markets require maximising the built area and creating smaller outdoor spaces that work efficiently, even in some of the more prosperous suburbs.  2 x large 3 storey townhouses including basement each now sit comfortably on the site where originally a single dilapidated house was located.

MONUMENTAL MODERNITY in WARSAW, POLAND by FAAB Architektura

Tuesday, May 20th, 2014

Article source: FAAB Architektura

The design was determined by the pursuit of two main goals. One was the creation of a space which, thanks to the means of architectural expression, would bring out the gravity of the central government office as well as create an impression of the government’s openness and accessibility to citizens. The other was the durability of the project in terms of utilization and aesthetics, especially taking into account that the project was to be paid for with public funds.

Vila Aspicuelta in São Paulo, Brasil by TACOA arquitetos

Sunday, May 18th, 2014

Article source: TACOA arquitetos

The eight houses that compose Vila Aphins challenge the logic of vertical buildings: the different units are disposed side by side horizontally, and function vertically. The street continues through the villa, partially covered by the building, and gives access to the staircase of each individual unit. The parking lot, gardens and common areas are also placed on this street.  On the first floor of every house, one single area provides space for the kitchen, dining and living.
