Article source: Javier Terrados Architecture Studio

The always uncertain destiny of Andalusian industry has provided the old Hytasa company installations at Arahal with an honorable continuity in time. This large industrial enclave, triangle-shaped and next to the railway station, will be transformed into a civic citadel that will hold several cultural and sport facilities.

Home Spa in Bratislava, Slovakia by

Wednesday, February 5th, 2014

Article source:

Home Spa is situated in Slovakia’s capital Bratislava. The key idea of our project was to create a “relaxing & chill-out spot” with 3 parking places, situated in a hilly garden behind the client’s family historical residence.

The ‘Home Spa’ is interconnected with the neobaroque object both at garage level and a green roof situated above the garage. The concept of rotation and placement of the object to a supporting wall enabled us to create a spacious covered terrace, providing the client’s with an intimate privacy so rare to find these days in the center of Bratislava.

Article source: Robert M. Gurney

Located in Cabin John, Maryland, this 4,900 square foot house is sited at the end of a manicured lawn, and looks over the edge of a steeply sloping wooded site adjacent to the C&O Canal and the Potomac River.  A light-filled double height circulation axis separates the house’s main volumes, while transverse axes further organize the spaces. Glass and steel bridges cross the circulation space to connect the volumes on the second floor. Primary living spaces bounded by large expanses of glass are oriented towards the river, while secondary spaces open to the lawn.

Article source: Hyunjoon Yoo Architects

The design of SCL is mainly focused on the creation of the “space of inspiration”. In order to create such space, the existing low ceiling was replaced by the high ceiling which was finished with the sound-absorbing sponges that would control the temperature of the exposed roof according to the season. By doing so, the inside space is completely soundproofed which fulfills the audible environment of SCL due to various ongoing debates.

Workinn is the first Hip-Business hotel in Gebze, located within TAYSAD Organized Industrial Site (TOSB) at the outskirts of Istanbul in a recently established suburban center ‘Cayirova’. The 162 bed hotel utilizing 12 000 m2 closed area, resides nearby a busy traffic interchange connecting the campus with a transeauropean motorway. Being so close to roadways thus creating the atmosphere of a stopover hotel helps in keeping memory of a temporary accommodation alive.
