Thursday, August 7th, 2014

Article source: 3+1 architekti

The building of the former stables is part of the farming complex founded  around 1870. Size and location of the building is the key to the layout of the whole farm. Along with similarly large barn on the southern edge of the property it defines large yard area and establishes the complex scale, which is larger compared to the surrounding residential development.

Prospect Heights Solar in Brooklyn by CWB Architects

Tuesday, August 5th, 2014

Article source: CWB Architects

Located in the Prospect Heights Historic District of Brooklyn, this late 19th century structure was suffering from old age and a general lack of upkeep. A gut renovation of the entire building was required to convert the aging building into a single family home for the new owners with a rental unit at the garden level. Although mostly new, many details original to the house were salvaged, restored and reused throughout the renovation with an overall contemporary aesthetic.

“One More” Kaohsiung Residential Tower in Taiwan by spatial practice

Tuesday, August 5th, 2014

Article source: spatial practice

The recent groundbreaking ceremony for Bellevueciti Construction marks the start of construction onspatial practice first residential tower “One More” in Kaohsiung City, at the exclusive front row of the Art Museum Park.

In our culture today, we are constantly over-exposed to information and data. It is important to create a living environment that provides a relief from these elements through a reconnection with nature. The simplicity of design for the tower is the result of maximizing the dramatic relationship to the natural environment and taking full advantage of its location directly in front of the park. The horizontal band defines the uninterrupted view of the park, mountain, and sea; while also performing as a sustainable shading element to reduce heat gain.

VDAB Office Building in Sint Niklaas, Belgium by BOB361 Architects

Sunday, August 3rd, 2014

Article source: BOB361 Architects

Considering the urban anchoring of the site, the angles of this building block are the regulating elements. The VDAB-project anchors itself with the existing context on the corner of the Noordlaan-Drie Koningenstraat, which is in direct relation with various public functions (post, ministry of finances), located near the main road. It is an intuitive meeting point located on a wide footpath. The second angle is the location for a possible extension and is at present, included in the project’s garden.
