LIVSRUM Cancer Counselling Centre in Næstved, Denmark by EFFEKT

Tuesday, February 4th, 2014

Article source: EFFEKT

The centre is designed as a coherent cluster of seven small houses situated around two green courtyards. Each house with an individual function but as a whole they form a continuous spatial experience.

Each house in the coherent cluster has its own specific function which as a whole form a coherent sequence of different spaces such as a library, kitchen, conversation rooms, lounge, workshops, fitness, wellness etc. The building offers a variety of different spatial variations specially selected to embrace informal counseling and visitation with a focus on user comfort and well-being. A varying ceiling height and choice of natural materials leads to a building with its own unique architectural expression clearly differentiates it from the surrounding hospital buildings.

Project California by LEICHT

Article source: LEICHT

From the outside it seems reserved and self-contained but inside surprisingly open, that is the effect of the minimalist family home of this Japanese couple. They live in a beautiful road in Marina del Rey in California. The influence of traditional Japanese architecture is very clear. The layout is based on the measurement of a tatami mat, the Japanese rice straw mat. The simplicity of the furnishings and materials together with the minimalism, are characteristic of the Japanese way of life, expressed in the architectural language.

Skyline Residence in Los Angeles, Ca by Belzberg Architects

Sunday, February 2nd, 2014

Article source: Belzberg Architects

Perched atop a ridgeline in the Hollywood Hills, the presence of the Skyline Residence represents an honest approach to creating an environmentally sensitive building without sacrificing beauty nor budget.  The pre-existing site presented a challenge in terms of constructability, the client presented the challenge of limited allowable expenses, and the architect was resilient to marginalize beauty and originality.  The requirements of an architecture to satisfy each of these constraints are found in that which is constant and continuous at a given site.

Article source: Inês Lobo Arquitectos Lda

This project involves the building of a block of 18 premises for habitation purposes next to the Óbidos Lake in the future site of the Golf and Country Club – Quinta do Bom Sucesso.

These will be located in one of the far sides of the Quinta with a valley to the east, one of the access roads to the west, a thicket to the south and a group of dwellings to the north. Our proposal is to build on this site, the central theme being that each premise should have an interactive relationship with the surrounding area, under the following conditions

White Cave House in Kanazawa by Takuro Yamamoto Architects

Sunday, February 2nd, 2014

Article source: Takuro Yamamoto Architects

White Cave House is a massive lump engraved by a series of voids interconnected in the shape of a kinked tube. The connection of voids – we call it Cave – is the theme of this house. Internal rooms are designed to enjoy the minimum views of Cave characterized by its whiteness. At the same time, this concept is also the practical solution to realize a courtyard house in Kanazawa city known for heavy snow in Japan.
