C-House is one of three urban villas comprising the Residences of King’s Hill, a unique residential development located on Cleveland’s near west side. Despite being situated within the urban context of the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood, this “virgin” site provides an idyllic enclave within a park-like setting, adjacent to the site’s eastern and southern boundaries. Uninterrupted views of Lake Erie, Cleveland’s downtown and industrial flats, as well as the site’s proximity to a busy vehicular thoroughfare reconnect the site to its urban environment.
As a unique Chinese architectural typology in recent years, sales pavilion reflects rather interesting phenomena. A sales pavilion will surely be built before the sales of almost every housing project in China. Extravaganzas as these pavilion buildings often are, in terms of form and décor, they normally bare almost no relationship to the actual housing marketed and sold inside. This building typology has been a beloved experimental field for elite architects practicing in China, offering much design and budget freedom that most other types of buildings do not enjoy. However, temporary buildings as they were born to be, these costly pavilions are often demolished shortly after the sales were completed, and in some lucky cases, converted to other functions.
The project hosts several functions, a hotel with 160 rooms, a conference centre for roundabout 800 visitors, an event centre, retail areas, a restaurant a café, office spaces and 280 car parks. All functions are orientated around an open space in the ground floor which is usable as the event centre, as the prefunction of the conference, the lobby of the hotel and a certain space fort the cafè.
The Velux Sunlighthouse in Pressbaum near Vienna is the first co²-neutral single-family-house in Austria.
The challenge was to create a house that taps the full potential of the plot on the one hand and to develop an energy and ecology concept that would erase the ecological footprint of the house within the next thirty years on the other hand. What distinguishes this project from many ambitious preceding projects is the aim to combine minimized numerical values for energy efficiency with ambitious architecture in spite of an all but ideal plot.
With modern buildings increasingly being designed as one large and centralized mass, this design revisited the decentralized model. Catering for senior residents living in the apartments around the park, the community center has a porous exterior appearance which resembles a forest that attracts people to enter.
The plan amplifies the stunning front and laterals views to the water, as well as rear views back to Castle Hill. Neighboring buildings are masked from the dwelling units by angling sidewalls, allowing centrally located spaces views of the waterfront. The structure throughout is white precast concrete.
Not far from the Viennese boarder – in between the Wien River and the Wiener Street as well as in close proximity to Josef Hoffmann’s well-known sanatorium dating from 1905 – lies the Wienerwald surgery. The three-story high solid building accommodates three apartments in the top floor, which are illuminated by means of cut in terraces.
The project calls for an intervention of the existing sport ground in a public school of Beijing. We define the project as a 1/2 stadium because the scale, size, formal expression and use of the architecture stand in between an official stadium and a blank sport field.
The new headquarters of the Catalan Institute of Economists of Barcelona occupies a narrow site with380 m²(1,247 ft²) of surface area and32 meters(105 ft.) of street frontage at the far end of the Plaza Gal·laPlacídiaadjacent to Via Augusta. Once the urban reformation of the plaza is completed, the site will overlook a pedestrian space of 145 x45 meterswith trees, and will be bordered by the formerly mentioned street.
